Now is the chance to blow your trumpet or give someone here some well deserved recognition.

Who here has achieved or know of someone who achieved some really impressive things in SEO that they would like to share?

Does having 114 top 10 ranking phrases for just one site across the major 3 SE's count? Out of those 40+ phrases are 1 or 1+2. Most of them 2 word phrases, highly relevant to the site of course. It results in 2K uniques and 12K hits a day. There simply isn't any more SE traffic to get for this site.

I haven't counted the other sites but in the KWT they don't fit on one screen and the bottom few showing are still well placed...

I have to say that's measured on UK only searches so it doesn't qualify for 'King' status. I've got a few nice world-wide #1's but wouldn't brag about those few.

A seo king would be someone that can get you a top rank at the main search engines.

Getting a site well ranked on one can be easy, on two can be a bit more difficult, but still possible. But getting well ranked for a competitive term on Yahoo, MSN and Google is tough as hell

Revenue might be the best metric.

Unique visitors is a good one though. I'm probably around 15k uniques a day on my oddball collection of vanity sites. :D

We have 17 of 20 keywords in the top 5 with 8 keywords at the #1 spot. Competitive page counts for the various keywords range between 2 million - 111 million. SERP placements are basically the same across Google, Yahoo and MSN. We may not be the "king", but do you think we might qualify as part of the royal family?

Why don't you leave search engine to answer this question. how about the competitive keywords like flower, real estate, web hosting, Travel and Hotel.

I know the guy who make the site rank in the first page of those result. :)

They may be good at SEO themselves but they are then using that to rip off the people that find them that way. Hardly a King.

We're paying 1.2k a month to a seo service and have about 500 uniques a day, including ppc...not really sure what to think, but our sites are very good themselves. If we could double our traffic we would easily double our revenue. Triple, triple. Etc. We sell promotional products, or rather a niche within them. I wonder if anyone here could do better. I wonder about fees... Seems like you all need a forum to advertise your services that can be validated if you get my meaning. I know many biz owners, all of whom are suspect of seo marketing in general... but would pay today if the roi could be verified at least by track record.

Maybe a seo ranking? :) Something to consider.

An association of SEO professionals that addresses that.

Not necesarily...It could be a case where its a very specialized yet competetive product. If it converts well at a high profit, 500 uniques can be a lot.

I have a few sites with less than 100 uniques (non adsense) that make a LOT of money.

    thats true....

    500 uniques can be a lot....1000, 2000 is better though. :)
although as you say, its better to get people to your site who are liable to convert to sales instead of landing by accident somewhere they have NO interest in.
We are talking SEO here...which means engine placement on RELEVENT searches....not link building

I am the SEO king....didn't they tell you...? I managed to rank well on MSN (hah - who hasn't) and I rank well on Google for non-competitive terms that recieve little or no actual searches ;) hah

Hey - it was said 'Kings are self-appointed' - so I appoint my self King of ranking for terms that anyone could rank for their first week learning SEO ;)

    extention to the caveot:
More visits are not better if the conversion rate suffers suffeciently.

Targeting keywords that convert at 10-15% you are likely to have to target less frequently searched/trafficed terms(500 uniques a day). Targeting higher traffic terms (1000-5000 a day)that convert at 0.5% and you have to understand that larger and larger %'s of this traffic will not convert - no matter how strong your 'call to action' or how well your product is priced.

Of course if you can somehow manage to maintain a high conversion rate then higher traffic is good. but the more generic the term / the more likely the trafiic is to be searching for something other than what you are presenting / offering.

Ah... the problem with this is that you can rank #1 for any search term -- as long as you buy enough links.

That doesn't show any SEO knowledge or talent. In fact, it may show that your ROI is negative!
