Link baiting (or linkbaiting) is the latest buzz word in the SEO world and has come to be the preferred way to natural link building.

It means to create something that naturally attract backlinks for your web page by getting people to talk about it, discussing it on forums, blogging about i, posting it on del.icio.us/Furl/Digg/Shoutwire and linking to it from their sites. It also attracts a lot of visitors.

Link baiting is getting users to link to content on your site which they find useful to share - It could be a great piece of article / story / content - It could also be a link through a widget which provides their users with good information

Link baiting is the best possible SEO method to use , its 100% white hat , and can have epic results .... only thing is , its really hard to get right !

 

link baiting ecourages people to link to a page or site that you create. They often create short bursts of lots of links. They can be useful but are not a great long term strategy in my opinion. Focus on your niche and get involved with sites like yours, interact with those sites where you can.

 

With linkbait, It is very difficult to make someone post our link from their web/blog with specific anchor. We should write such as very unique and valuable article or something "pay attention" article to make many blogger review that article in their blog.

My name is Phill and I am a writer who has been link-baiting for the past few years and my articles regularly get on the front page of digg and Reddit.I normally measure success on how many links my articles manage to generate.. Our recent articles have gained links from high profile blogs such as boingboing and gizmodo.

Yep, I do agree Link bait is really effective.. A lot of Social media sites can be used to get back links along with Shoutwire.

 

you need to have a good contents or you may ask articles in exchange for links or vice versa.

Link baiting is: creative ideas to share with people that can attract them to link to what you write, design and publish.

For example:
Write: You can write something interesting that others would love to link to. Like tips, tutorials, how-tos and etc.
Videos: YouTube is getting more popular and people love to share videos. Make an interesting video with tips or something informative. People would link it for sure.
Design: Design and distribute free quality web templates with your site link at the bottom. You can do the same with WordPress themes. People always are looking for free stuff!

And yet there are many other things you can get incoming links from. Like I said, link baiting is "creative ideas" to get backlinks. (without annoying people to give you links)
