Is Directory Submission Still useful?

I think directory submission is still a very effective method of backlink building as long as it is done right. You should only submit to high PR sites and not sites that are worthless or junk. In addition try submitting inner pages of your site to directories, I think someone else recommended you do this.

 

yes high PR directories are beneficial for qur websites..

 

My opinion is that its always better to get backlinks from as many sources as possible. So, I still consider directories as a good source for building links. The only thing that I check before submitting to them is that it is DoFollow and secondly, the link after getting approved is not redirected from some other source.

As both nofollow and redirected links are of no use for generating backlinks for your site.

What do you mean by this comment, i think this is totall rubbish.

Both are good done correctly, its not just the live anchor that counts. Unique descriptions or comments are a must have. And a lot of submitters here just spam the same ole' description or comment all over the web.

I am doing directory submissions for over 2 years now commercially and iv'e never send out one single duplicate description.

Only difference is that 15 PR5 blog comments will cost you the same as a 1000 directory backlinks.

 

Yes directory submission is still usefull but high PR and dofollow listings only. It supports your links effectively.

i've submitted my site to many directories for about 2 months but till now it hasnt been indexed yet by google,yahoo,alexa,etc. my site doesnt have backlink til now. so i dont know wether it's still useful or not

 

Yes, but if we submit 100 means we get only 10. Compare to other to links building options it is not so useful.

Don't know why you aren't still indexed, could be dozens of reasons, but a DS isn't the way to get your site indexed in the first place.

A DS is a trusted and working method to gain in the serps. No doubt about that. All my clients report new backlinks showing up within a few days when G indexed them and better rankings later on so i don't know what the problem is.

 

Yes, the high PR are good, but niche directories are best. You can also get quality traffic from them. If doing this manually, Google: my-niche directories.

 

dont be doubt about use of directory submission.. its a long lasting thing for getting backlink.. its may be historical but its good.. what my point is those who are all old ways ( directory submission, reciprocal link exchange, 3 way link exchange, article submission, press release submission and feed submission,and finally bookmark submisssion ) all are still useful ..

It comes down to choosing the right directories. The submission process itself is almost mechanical. The main task is choosing the directory which suits your niche, has good traffic, passes link value and so forth. It need not be free, but the price should justify the visitors and conversions you get.
