    Hi,

I know there are many ways of doing Keyword research. Some people like to use Adwords Cost to gauge, some use no. of competitors.

So what are you proven method of choosing your winning keywords?

    Thanks

I use keyword elite 2.0 - I create a keyword list around my niche, usually 1-2k keywords. Then find out how many competitors there are. Then for each keyword that I want to target I do a SENuke around that keyword.

Target keywords have more then 15 searches a month, and less then 20k competitors. then in each SEnuke submission I have anchor text to my "Main Keywords" which help with SEO.

I use Google's keyword tool to find my actual keyword phrases. Then I like to go on Google and type allintitle:"keyword phrase" and see how many competing pages actually have the keyword phrase in the title.

I like to stick to around 2k or less. I think this method works a lot better than the standard searching with your keyword in quotes because it lets you know how many people are targeting that keyword phrase specifically. If they have it in their title, there's a good chance they are trying to rank for it.

Then I just analyze the first page of Google with SEO Quake and see how strong the competition is. If I think I can rank, I'll go for it.

You have to figure out if the keywords you are using has too much or just the right amount of competition. Using a combination of Google Keyword tool, AllinTitle, and yahoo site explorer, you can narrow down to some profitable key words. Things to look for are if there are actually adword ads for the keywords you are looking to target and you also have to find keywords that have an average of only about 5,000 or searches rather than millions. Hope this helps.

When I am starting in a niche what I normally do is use Google keyword tool and pick out about 30 top keywords and then i check them for competition is the search engines and keep an eye on what sites are ranking and then i get busy writing articles.

Good way to test it out - if i want to take it furthur i get more in depth once i have a few sales.

There are many ways of doing Keyword research, and many wrong ways.
My best tool is Market Samurai, and I pay attention to SEO competition section where I can see how hard it would be to rank in the 1st page.
