What social network does your website get the most traffic from? Did you use any special techniques?

    Personally mine is Twitter.

Also have had the most success with Stumbleupon - only for targeted linkbait content though and conversions are pretty much non-existent with that traffic.

I was very successful with Myspace and Friendster tools niche.

But they 'died' because of Facebook.

So yeah, Twitter is the most preferable right now.

Even though sites like digg and stumble send me a lot of traffic, its not targeted traffic. Take stumble traffic for example, it has around a 90% bounce rate.

Youtube has to be my best referral for targeted traffic. With a bounce rate in the 30% range, its one of my best sources of traffic.

Yeah I could imagine for most topics stumbleupon would generate a high bounce rate.. unless its general information or cool viral stuff...

How many twitter accounts do you use? I have a main one (@thisisrt) and 2 others (one for fitness blog http://www.adrenalinerushfitness.com @adrenfitness) and another for web dev articles

How do you guys use digg? None of my stories every gain any real speed...

Twitter is the best for SEO. Facebook not so much, facebook uses a go through link so spiders can't really relate it to a relevant content backlink (as far as I know). Twitter and then maybe Myspace.

If forums count as social networks then that is my choice, relevant forum backlinks using keywords is one of the best methods to get SEO. Yahoo Answers if you have a level 2 account, great niche backlinks..

Are you using digg for traffic, or deep backlinks? Personally, I rarely use digg. I have submitted a bunch of links to digg, and they never seem to show up in my google webmaster tools.

I dont really care about the traffic from digg, because it has a bounce rate in the 85% - 100% range. I mostly want deep links, so the search engines can find my inner pages. But because the links do not show in in my web master tools, I stopped using digg. I might submit a couple of links every 3 - 4 months, and that is about it.

For me Twitter generates almost 10% of the hits to my websites, while Facebook still reigns supreme as the primary source of traffic to my websites with almost half (48%) of the hits I receive from ‘Social networking sites’. Surprisingly, the number two social media traffic generator is not Twitter, but StumbleUpon with almost a quarter (25%).

Couple of months before, I had read somewhere that StatCounter claimed StumbleUpon was number one ahead of Facebook in the US, in terms of traffic generation. The top Social Media sites to generate global website traffic after Facebook, StumbleUpon and Twitter are YouTube (6%), reddit (4%), Digg (2%) and MySpace (2%). LinkedIn was ranked at 12 out of 25 monitored services with 0.34%, while Google Buzz was not yet included in the research.
