On-Page optimization is a first part of your seo strategy, you need to place your title, meta description etc. in your heading tag. check your keyword density, place your main keyword in h1 tag. just search in google, you will get more information about on-page optimizaiton.

 

I think bouth are beneficial and important for the site to get better PR. As if we only do any one type optimization then it really do not affect the SEO. So use the onpage SEO techniques like meta tags, description, keywords, heading tags. Also the off page techniques like article and directory submissions, press release, social bookmarking and networking, link exchange and forum posting.

 

For on site optimatization use wikipedia style internal linking.

 

SEO is search engine optimization. Use for high PR and getting traffic in your site.

As per my experience is concerns both are equally important.Keyword selection,Onpage optimization,Offpage optimization are three bricks of seo.No one can give the higher priority for any of these three.

i think both on page and off page is more important for best result in SERP page. so focus on on page and off page.

 

what i feel is both have same priority ..u cant say which one is good...if u are poor in on page that u can overcome it by doing a strong off page activity..but if your on page is strong enough then u need not to do a lot effort in off page

 

On-page and off-page both are important but more important is user satisfaction. Any search engine frame there guidelines in such a way that if a visitor lands on a site he should get want he wants. If a site has all the elements they will for sure keep that particular site in the top of there search results. So first user satisfaction after that search engine robots satisfaction.
