Hello. I am an owner of an adult site (with porn videos), but I haven't started the promotion yet, so I was wondering what are the best ways of getting free, targeted traffic to an adult site?
I would try posting in some adult forums with a link to your website in your signature. This way you can gain some backlinks but also rise up in Search Engine rankings and get free traffic organically from Search Engines.
Have you watermarked videos before? I was just about to start researching this, but was wondering how many videos I shoud upload, etc. and what kind of traffic I can expect from it.
@MrGee Porn question. Very cool. I've never done SEO for a porn site, but I would def hit www.youporn.com and a few other free sites like that to drive traffic to your paid site. If they like the clips they see on the free side, visitors will want to see what you've got to offer on the paid side.
I've tried posting in forums, spent like 4 hours yesterday posting in all sorts of forums. I got 1-2 visitors from each post. Frustrating. But I'm very new to all of this, so I have a lot to learn.
Judging by the majority the key to promoting an adult site includes 1. Pop ups on totally unrelated sites 2. Redirects and new windows on related porn sites 3. Setting up bots to post in blog comments completely unrelated messages with 10's or even 100's of links 4. Adding links wherever possible 5. Uploading videos, software and audio to file sharing networks under different titles so people accidently download them. Hopefully this will be a good start for your site .
Water mark your videos - and then connect with people like stile project, little midgets, orsm,,,, send them the videos and ask them to post them on their sites. Create an account on free video sites like xhamster and pornhost,,,,, upload some sample videos and go from there.

I dont have much xperience in adult site seo but i would recommend posting in some adult forums but this job is a bit tough.
I like all of the suggestions! I have been posting in lots of adult forums, but I only get 1-2 hits per day from that. Too much work for one visitor per day. I am going to try the video thing soon as I figure it out. Does the accidental download thing actually work? I mean, if they're not looking for porn in the first place, what if they're not interested? Also, how many videos should one upload, to expect any results from it? Like 5, 50 or 500? I have no experience with bots, if anyone can pm me and point me in the right direction for that it would be greatly appreciated!
I'm asking because people always say that porn traffic is easy to acquire in masses, but hard to monetize, but since I don't have almost any experience with this niche, it seems harder to get this kind of traffic compared to other "normal" niches like Entertainment. Youtube is supposed to be a family friendly site - if a video is explicit, even if there is no real nudity, you run the risk of having the video removed. I have heard of people having their accounts suspended for even "acting" sexy, with no nudity or sexual acts. Keep in mind that a lot of people on youtube are there to push a social agenda. Where its animal rights, and having hunting videos taken down, or reporting videos that are sexual in nature - you have to be careful "what" you post on youtube.
