Search engines are pretty good at detecting duplicate content. i have seen many people first submit to ezinearticles, waiting for that article to be indexed before distributing to other article directories.

It's most important to vary the anchor text on your credit link.

You can find article spinner applications and online services, you usually have to massage out the gibberish after the computer has a go at it. Ultimately you hope dozens or hundreds of webmasters republish the articles, which unavoidably will be duplicate content but useful.

    No they don't.

They only require that you own the right to the article.

Duplicate content is a ranking FILTER not a penalty.

Your article should go on your website or blog first.

If they are YOUR articles and not duplicated, you can post 1 article to many different directories, it is wise to atleast write them though, but not recommended.

Well, I think there is a unanimous agreement among most of the members that simply submitting the same article to 50 or 100 article sites is not going to help much. You need to focus on the quality, uniqueness and usefulness of the article. Write a high quality article and only submit it to reputed article directories. That's the approach I follow and recommend.

Yeah you can submit your articles in several directories without any change is made but the number of directories that allow this activities are not much.

These article directories are not highly ranked and your target to get traffic will not be fulfilled.

And the most renowned article directories like Ezine or Buzzle will not accept your article due to be blamed as plagiarism. And Google bot also is able to mark copied content by indexing technique.

So it would be better if you spin the articles by software or rewrite it manually before submitting it to any directory.

Can anyone, who claims submitting the same article to directories result in a SERP penalthy or something like that, give confirmation on this? Did anyone make a test on this?

If we are talking about SEO benefits of backlinks from article submission, in my experience, submitting the same article to many directories works as good as submitting different articles to directories. There is really no problem if you change the title and the anchor link time to time, although not necessary.

This is what I do and I rank on the first page for my targeted keywords.

You can even submit to a thousand article directories. The problem is in the indexing. If the articles are not indexed, you wont get the link benefit. They spin the article vocab, create an other similar but unique article with the software and then its submissions. Its kinda Grey hat and work sometimes to extent upto a limit.
