    Hi guys

I friend of mine handed over me his laptop to fix some problem. He formatted his C drive and installed new windows xp, he said he did not formatted D drive where his all data is located. But later after installation of xp when he tried to access D drive that is not accessable and after a long wait windows gives error "The disk is drive D is not formatted", but my friend says he did not formatted D drive.

Please let me know how I can recover data from D drive, I don't know what is happened to his laptop that is extremely very very slow now. The partition he selected is NTFS and his laptop is Toshiba Satellite.

I am trying to find some way to recover his data, please help me and give you suggestion as this is urgent.

Then so, if I had been waiting at some shit forum waiting for replies then I had still waiting for answers. But posting at multiple forums gave me quick solution and I recovered data by "DiskInternals NTFS Recover" software. Definitely posting at multiple forums works and I will keep continue this and no one can stop me. :D

You can also use Ultimate boot cd which comes with a bootload of programmes and functions (also cloning the disk, or dumping the drive).

    Hi friends,

Thank you everybody for helping me and giving me suggestions. I find another useful software "DiskInternals NTFS Recovery" that is paid but I also got "free serial no" and recovered lost data from formatted partition. :)

Lot of partition recovery software are available online, so you need to buy that to recover your data but if you have lack of knowledge like how to use that software then I will recommend you to get help from data recovery services company which have 100 class clean room facility.

And when help is genuinely sought and given, it is indeed a great blessing. Those who abuse forums have their own conscience to address -- and make themselves unwelcome.

You can try a free tool, called Recuva. It it still can't help you, just ask an expert in data recovery.
