I'm looking to get a few simple games (Tetris, Snake, etc.) coded as Java Applets. I'm a C++ coder by trade and to write myself in C++ I'd estimate it would take 1-2 days of work so would expect the same for a competent Java developer. I'm after quotes off anybody that would be interested in doing this sort of work in Java. Thanks
I'll contact a few of my old buds from uni. We studied Java solid for 4 years and a few of them have continued to code in Java after leaving.
Thanks mate that would be cool. I do want quite a few games written (20+) so will be after multiple coders. I've had a couple of PMs but nothing concrete yet.
I would apply myself but don't really have the time at the moment. (As you could probably tell from the last 1 )
Yeah I know how busy you are, what was it 3 months Being an experienced Java programmer would you say 1-2 days is realistic for a simple game like Tetris?
lol 2 and a half I think. It really depends on what functionalities you want with it. (e.g. scores, mazes, graphics) The functionality of snake is very easy so an experienced programmer should manage a basic execution of snake in 2 days. Tetris is a little more complicated, especially considering the need for levels as you procede through the game. Possibly 4 or 5 days for tetris +/- 2 days. My bro could have made snake in 1 day with Flash/Actionscript but he has a job now. I've contacted 2 guys that might be available.
4-5 days for Tetris I could write it in C++ in a day. We used to have (unoffiical) fun days at work to see who could write the best game in a day which was probably the most productive coding that we did .
I'm just being realistic as to what to expect from people who will code for you. If you want the best Java programmer he could probably do it in 5/6 hours for £300-£500 but if you're going to be paying someone £60-£120 per game then I personally would be expecting that kind of wait for completion.
Sorry I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. Time isn't really an issue but cost is and I always associate cost with time. If I can get the games written ~£100 each I'll be happy. I'll also put the job up on a freelancer site and see what sort of cheap labour quotes I can get.
lol I know you didn't. Just explaining the reasoning for the timeframe. I just realised that anyone reading the this thread might think I was a slow programmer (which isn't true ) and thought I better explain why your game might take a while.
please contact me at ebaydude2006@ebay.com i need help programming my final year project, i need someone who is brilliant at AI and game programming
Lol dude, i hope you realize you are posting in the WRONG forum, in the WRONG thread ( so old ). Aw jeez if you really need help you'd think youd spend time researching some game development site, which there is plenty. Try gamedev.net ... good luck.
