The bad news just keeps coming for Microsoft's Internet Explorer platform. After being forced by the European Union to give Windows users the option of downloading other browsers besides its own, Microsoft has had to stand by and watch as the market share for Internet Explorer, once the overwhelmingly dominant browser in the market with over 90 percent market share, dipped below 60 percent. If the trend continues, as is expected, it might only be a matter of time before a majority of people around the globe are using other browsers than Internet Explorer.

No, this is great news! IE will no longer hold back the web! modern standards and practices will take hold. Markup and code will actually work as intended. New features can be used without concern for what IE won't do. Stuff will work on ALL browsers without hacks! This will be a gift to the world!

What's so sad? IE was a crappy browser and got passed by better browsers, simple as that. Try FireFox or Chrome and you'll see.

This is a good news but I do not think IE will be fallen easily. Most of regular users are not tech type person, some of them do not even know how to download a program. This will still be a blockade for other browsers until they have learned more about technical stuff.

There are 4 articles in the news today about IE's downfall, it's lost more than 1/3 of its market share in 5 years, it's still falling, but you don't think it will fall easily?

Yaa I do agree with "drhowarddrfine" as we can see firefox, chrome and safari, all these are key to decrease the market for internet explorer.

I wouldn't think the BBC, CNET and ComputerWorld were bot posters.
