Dodging PayPal fees

Hello everyone I heard some kind of rumor that if you send a $ gift request to an e-mail and they accept there are no charge fees, is this correct?

I notice the Request Money tab in Paypal, but am curious if this really dodges the 2-10% charge fees

This would come in handy as many of my xfers are micro transactions and the fees really add up

I believe that if you have the person send the money as a donation then there is no fee, but they also can't get a refund. I also remember seeing something on Paypal's website about no fees for transferring to family members...might be something worth looking into.

Hmm I would not pursue the family members method as this is blackhat lol! Thank you for the reply. this makes sense because with donations there are no buyer disputes meaning there is no xfer fee..this will be useful for my freelance work..If this is violating Paypals ToS someone let me know.

I believe only if the money is in your paypal balance. if its funded by cc, then the standard fees apply.

Paypal routinely bans members for attempting to bypass their fees, so trying to do this often ends in a bad way. Bottom line is that if you want to use "their" service, pay their fees. You're no better than anyone else and we all pay them.
