Hi, We have been a pr5 for a year now and could use some advice on to best way to make the push to a pr6. We are building links with a combo of good blogs and some less good blogs. We are putting out articles to all the major free ezine sites and press releases on a weekly basis Generally we have been working hard on building back links and I need to know what else I should be trying. Please Help www.glassesusa.com
PR comes from backlinks, but increasing PR for the sake of PR isn't going to help your rankings. It takes approximately 6X the amount of PR to go from a PR5 to PR6. Concentrate on relevant backlinks from authority sites (sites that already rank for the keywords you are targeting) and forget about PR.
I don`t think you can make any new on-page optimization...just keep building good links... But as mjewel said, PR won`t help your rankings, so concentrate on traffic
You don't need a PR6+, PR5 is fairly respectable. To get higher your going to need to become a bigger authority site, that means blog articles dealing with vision, maybe a forum or something. Honestly there is no need for it though. The only thing PR is really good for is increasing your crawl budget.
Agree, focus on blogging and maybe adding a forum. You could also create a section for job listings relevant to your industry.
thank you for the replies, the job listings may be a good idea. what else can i do to bring in more traffic?
An interesting SEO question because most site owners are concerned with increasing traffic first. One of the first things you need to do is make sure you are producing quality content that people and sites will really get a benefit from in your blogging and article marketing. This will help you to obtain more relevant back links from authority sites (helping increase PR) and will also help you to become more of an authority yourself (helping rankings).
You shouldn't concentrate on PR too much. Find ways to effectively market your site to your target audience.
I would suggest link exchanges with other sites similar to yours. Try and put one way links in the footer of your website.
Who cares about PR? Where are you in SERPS? That's all that matters! I'd try doing some profile links and some combination of video, podcasting and a few guest posts on high PR blogs.
