How do you create the white background with the broken edges?

I use photoshop a very little and would really like to be able to do this?

    Can anyone help me?

Hey there. There are special brushes in photoshop that will help to craete this effect. The way I would do it would be to create layers and create solid white boxes. Select the eraser tool. Now select one of the wet media or natural brushes that look a little spotty like spraypaint. You may have to go into the brush menu and append them to your brush list as these are not default brushes. Now it's just kind of trial and error using these brushes to erase along the solid box edges to create that rough look on the edges. To recreate the look on the like you provided, you may have to do this a couple times on different layers and move them around to make it look kind of random. Also, you might want to play around with the opacity, flow and airbrush options as well as you're erasing the edges to vary the amount of white that is erased.
    Hope this helps a bit.

Yeah man, just create a rectangle or whatever shape you want, and download some Grunge Photoshop brushes. You can either use the brushes on the eraser tool and simply erase bits and pieces of the rectangles edge, or use the brushes with the Brush tool and paint over the edges. Either way will create similar effects.

    darrens,
you can use blur effect (gaussian blur) to the blue 's layer then make a white layer back of blue ones. use masking method. masking with gradient tools. for masking ; place the blue layer top of white ones then hold on control to the line between those layer till there arrow cursor then click.
    enjoy
    :)

Your best bet is to go with grunge brushes. Select a nice grunge brush as your eraser via the eraser tool (E), and experiment!
