i'm trying to make sense of the posting page template of my site as shown here (http://willowbilliards.com/wordpress/?p=52). what i can't figure out is how to get rid of the "Enjoy this article" text, the picture and "considering subscribing..." text. the only related coding that exists, that i can find, is on the single.php code here: [CODE<div class="the-content">THIS IS ABOVE THE CONTENT<?php the_content ('Continue Reading »'); ?>THIS IS BELOW THE CONTENT<div class="clear"></div>[/CODE] so how do i get rid of the part i want to get rid of? i search my entire remote site and i cant find anything that says "Enjoy this article" or anything else related to this stuff. please advise. thanks!
The image is probably in the theme's images folder, once you track it down, just delete it. As far as the other stuff, I can't tell you what file it's in...single.php makes the most since, but you may want to check index.php as well. Hard to say without knowing what theme that is and having access to the files. You are looking for this code: Hope that helps.
thanks. someone actually told me to add this code the bottom of my functions.php file and that would remove it and it did! <?php remove_filter('the_content', 'promote_blog'); ?> Code (markup): why that worked? i have no idea....
it Just made it Right as that PHP code restricts Promote BLog and it means that All this coming under Promote Blog Section wouldnt show up any more..! But hmansfield was right..! Problems shld be solved the removing the unwanted codes and not just blocking the unwanted codes..! Praise Hmansfield
thanks. i'd like to take your advice and remove it, but i've done a complete search of the site and nowhere does this text exist "Enjoy this article?". any ideas???
It could be in another file and is just being called to appear. The same way images work. See if you can find this code: and what is after it. If you find it, then delete it and the next </div> tag. and anything that is between them. It would also help if you wanted to past the contents of your single.php file. The best I can do without seeing all of the files that make up the theme is to guess. For instance, sometimes there are _inc folders that hold additional functions and commands that are not within index.php or single.php, but merely called by tags. By the way, I just noticed what kind of site you were making. I like the theme for that. It should turn out pretty good.
thanks hmansfield. here's the code from my single.php file: http://pastebin.com/ZEzHNZgM i did a search through all my files and "promote" appeared in a few places: 1. wp-admin\users.php - http://pastebin.com/gMzD001P 2. dbwebhostings\style.css - http://pastebin.com/37G1vYt3 3. wp-admin\post-new.php - http://pastebin.com/4jgEXtj1 any idea how this all comes together? it's a little over my head right now.
Let's try and get the first thing , first. The orange RSS thing is an image. It is most likely in the images folder. Find it and delete it. Something else that came to mind is that you don't have any posts, so it is hard to tell where that RSs thing would show up in relationship to the actual content... I was thinking the RSS thing was at the top of the single.php, but it may be at the bottom....in comments.php or what ever your comments template is named. Check there.
OK, I don't see where that code is in the any post files, so check the comments template (may be comments.php) and see if it is in there. Logic say's that since it is asking "Enjoy the article?" that is is set to appear after the post instead of where I was looking.
my comments.php file is completely empty. i didnt want comment functionality so i went about deleting that earlier in the process.
I don't know man, I'm stumped. I can only guess at the usual places like I said, I have no idea what other files the designer included in the installation. If it's not in single, index or post.php and it's not in the comments template (and there is only one comments file) then it has to be in something that appears below the post and I just have no idea what that could be without looking at the entire installation.
