    Then there are specialized search engines, like Icon Search, Video Search Engines, etc.
    I found a whole bunch of Video and film search engines at a site called YouTubeAlternative.com

    There are hundred's of Search engines. But Google ,Yahoo ,Bing and Ask share the top of list .Google generally have the upper hand over others while in 2008 .Is share the market value near about 68%.

    Although there are many search engines the share of total searches is not evenly distributed. I found these stats from a quick search:

    Google: 85.75%
    Yahoo: 5.38%
    Baidu: 3.52% [never heard of this one before]
    Bing: 3.11%
    Ask: 0.63%
    AOL: 0.42%
    ....

    Of course these numbers are approximate and I don't know how they collected their data, but it should give you a general idea about where to focus your attention.

    There are thousands of web search engines out there, alot of them are custom google search engines which run off the Google servers but just search within certain websites / keywords and such.
