Once-In-A-Lifetime Web Site For Sale

I am selling an art-related website. It would be most valuable to someone in the field of art, especially an art dealer. **Highly serious inquries only**

    - The site is from 1996.
    - It has a desirable one-word domain name
    - It has over 1 million pages indexed by Google (however, that number has fluctuated as low as 9,000 in the past)
    - It is #2 for a single word search of one of the most common types of art work, and #1 for another form of that word
    - It ranks on the first page of Google for 8 other keywords that people pay $3to $5 per click for when advertising through AdWords
    - It has nearly 10,000 links, including many .edus, government sites, and other established websites. These links have been in place for 5+ years at least.
    - It has a PageRank of 6 on the home page
    - It has some adsense on it and averages $16 / day (but this is not how the site makes money; it is just a small bonus)

Simply put, this is a once in a lifetime find. I am also contacting gallery owners and art dealers. If you are able to make a serious bid in the $150,000 - $500,000 range, feel free to PM me and tell me about yourself, and we will continue the discussion by e-mail.

I've been getting lots of interesting offers for this site - glad I posted here. I am going to keep discussions open for another 30 days or so unless someone finds that magical BIN number in my mind.

Could you tell us what is the primary source of income? Or does that need to yet be implemented?

I prefer if you PM me first and tell me about yourself before I tell you the URL and details. I am trying to keep this sale confidential and between serious parties only.

As for the main source of income, this is not an income-earning site, but only because I have not accepted inquiries through e-mail. There is turnkey potential, as listings, prices, and relationships with the artists are already in place. In other words, just answer your e-mail and deliver the products, and the income will come in.

I purchased this site as an investment and had mostly finished developing it when another business started to consume my time. I put Adsense on a few thousand of the resource pages and it earns about $7500 per year, but that is paltry compared to the price of one sale of the artworks listed - and there already is an established market and other successful sites with the same business model.

ClothMaker111, I would use caution when giving info to members with low post count and no iTrader rating.

The lack of iTrader rating doesn't signify anything about the poster's character but, more importantly, a high iTrader rating doesn't indicate anything about the poster's ability to buy a high value site. I think that for the purpose of this thread trader rating is really irrelevant. Clothmaker himself has a zero rating.

That always makes me go, "hmmm." Adsense is the one of the easiest ways to monetise a site and you've done that, great. But you're trying to talk the site up considerably above the value Adsense earnings would suggest. Therein lies the problem.

The subject matter of the site may make other monetisation routes considerably difficult - which is possibly why you haven't exploited them already. As with some other high value goods cookie tracking to reward on performance/conversion ... is not viable. Selling ad space is something you may have already tried and discovered how difficult it is in your niche. I think your problem is to convince potential buyers not just that your site is an authority in its sector but that the earnings are there and achievable. Generally the way to show achieveable earnings is to demonstrate by example i.e. past earnings. I have the budget and would be chatting with you by PM if your valuation was based more on proof and less on opinion.
