    Hi,

I want to know how good is the .com.co domain extension. I have some generic one word .com.co domains. I have herd that they get good traffic if we develop them. Please need every piece of info on them.

Logically in australia and almost everywhere in the world you'd refer to a company as a co rather than a com. And who was it that made the silly (in some respects) ruling that only a business can register a .com.co vs a .com vs .co.com vs .co where its open slather?

Never seen a com.co in the serps before, that is not a good sign, so me it looks like someone forgot the m at the end of com.

What does .COM means seriously ? If .CO is the general business abbreviation.

.CO can also mean commercial: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Co

    What about .CO.UK .CO.NZ .COM.CO .NET.CO .NOM.CO ...ect ?

I am certain that by 2015, the .co extension will obliterate .com in the public psyche.

All the best .com names were bought 25 years ago, and most have since been sold between rich people in private, sometimes public, sales. Very rarely do we ever see an amazing domain name on an expired list, and if there is one, 99% of the time it's snapped up by snapnames et al.

I for one, believe the hype. In 10 years, the face of the internet will change and .co will be massive.

Open Financial Times (readily available anywhere in the US), what do you see? Sure, some .coms here and there, but mostly co.uk and co.jp! And lately – .TV. (From what I hear from my British friends, .TV is advertised left and right in the UK).

In Russia, com is virtually non-existent. .ru is king (or czar, if you will), with .net (for whatever reason) in the second place. When I mention .com, people stare at me – what’s that supposed to mean? No kidding.

Bottomline – com is mostly an American thing, not even global.” just like .name .tel .travel .org

But .CO is a global thing... it's the abbreviation of "company" internationally.

.co is being marketed as the new com because it sounds good and has tons of potential sounds good etc problem is its also seen by many as just another way for money making from domainers and webite owners and is really seen as a typo for the .com.
I have had to pre register 350+ domains because of this to protect various vested interests and thats what whole point of this is really about whether it will be the new .com will be shown in time but i would urge caution to a certain degree it may well turn out to be another .biz

It will only gain ground if companys like google accept it and dont frown upon it and thats where the uncertainty lies at this point

not bashing it or sticking up for it i would rather it didnt happen at all it will be costing plenty of people some good cash to protect their interests online

One good thing they have done is If you also had the .com.co you automatically have first digs at the .co

we will see what happens after july

.CO is not a typo of .COM

    from where i live, i see ccTLDs like .co.uk .co.jp .co.com .co.net .co.ca .co.org ...ect

Where does .co.xxx come from??? The answer is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.co_(second_level)

    .co short for commercial internationally.

.com is just an american thing made up from the 80's where at the time .com was actually the abbreviation of "COMMAND" and not "commercial" when the internet was born.

The majority of the people don't see ccTLDs as country code names for example:

.TV we domainers know it means "Tuvalu" but from the public eyes it means "Television".
.ME we domainers know it means "Montenegro" but from the public eyes it means "Me".

    Same thing with .CO

Who cares if it means "Columbia" because once it becomes popular, the public will see it as "Company".

Why limit yourself just for an "M" at the end ?

    This is 2010 not 1985.

if only life was that simple
there is a big difference here
any fool can pick up its just a money making venture and will come to nothing
oh and there is a big difference between this and .me or .tv you cannot seriously hold that as an arguement its paper thin
