Yes. the points you have mentioned above are correct for a quality content. New content will not only keep your existing visitor base coming back, but also bring in new visitors. Well optimized content always drives the website into top position in search engines. Also the content in the website can be made with targeted keywords.

I would add to use sentences and paragraphs properly and dont have all of the article batched together as it makes it difficult to read - this probably comes under #1 (Write easy-to-read text) but just thought I would expand on it :)

If you are creating content to sell, work backwards first and ask yourself who exactly is going to by my product and how am I going to market it? Then create the product to fit that niche. Too many people create the product first and then ask who is going to buy it and how am I going to sell it afterwards! Also ask yourself can I reach that niche easily and cheaply to market this product, do they have a past history of buying similar products and have they got the money to buy it?

Find a need for your info product first. Then create the product to fit that need.

    Hope this helps.

Great points you have mentioned. But my point of view for content is:

    1. Content should be original and fresh.
    2. Balance the content with both user’s perspectives and Search engines perspective.
    3. Rank in top ten on most of the keywords
    4. Easy-to-read and easier-to-grasp informative content
    5. Improve conversion of the existing pages
    6. User-friendly approach for higher viewer traffic
    7. Placement of right word in right place so that the site is optimally optimized
    8. Relevant Content writing with maximum keywords for higher visitor conversion rates to Increases viewers traffic
    9. Boosts up rankings of website in leading SERPs
    10. Increasing trend of your sales and profit curve

Apologies if I misinterpreted your post but wasn't sure if your content was for publishing for your own needs or to sell. Here are a couple of other points that might help:

Create an attention grabbing headline to get them to read on. Make your headline a question which entices the reader to find out what the answer is or make a challenging statement.

Break up your text with occasional photos or graphics. This makes it easier on the eye and adds interest as well as the opportunity to show what you are writing about.

Does the content directly meet the needs of your readership? Does it answer their questions and problems? Are your writing with your audience interests in mind rather than your own?

Provide content in the format that your audience wants to receive or provide an alternative to text. For example create an mp3 or podcast for your audience by recording your voice. Some people might prefer to download and listen to your content on their iPod or mp3 rather than read it. Create a video from you main points with software like this http://www.incansoft.com/IS0031.php (I'm not an affiliate).

Something else to consider is that interactive content (like games) as well as video and audio content (create a viral video) is also often heavily and quickly linked, which helps the pagejuice, if that’s what you’re after. Then again, maybe the real skill is not really wanting to achieve great content for the sake of being linked and improving rankings, but to create the content because you have something to say about it… because you really care about the subject.

It's been said that your content should be written in a tone and voice so that anyone who finds the website can read it. Experts (whoever they are lol) suggest having your site written at a high school level of comprehension, or lower if you can manage it.

I think this can be one of the big challenges that face trained writers when they transition to writing for the internet.

I say you covered it pretty good. I would only add that you should try to coordinate the content and the page titles/descriptions together for best SEO impact.

I'm not sure if this is going off topic. Good usable content should also have keyword rich hyperlinks going to pages relevant to the what the link describes. Someone mentioned a bit about keyword density, which is important, but should be done tastefully.

I know what you mean Mark regarding experts saying that you should write quality content that could be understood at a high school level of comprehension and I completely agree with you. However I think it's important not to confuse writing content and writing a sales letter, web page or e-mail. Writing sales material should be written at a high school level of comprehension because sadly that's the level most people are at but that's totally different from writing quality content for a professional or targeted audience. There is a big difference between the two!

And one thing to be added about content practice is keep refreshing the content from time to time.
