Microsoft group recently announce the next-generation browser IE9 Platform Preview. To select Windows 7 as a test platform, the results show that the comprehensive performance of IE9 preview, compared to IE8, has significantly improved and scores at 13.17, which is 6 times better than IE 8 at 2.20 score.

And it's still 2x slower and more than any other browser per an earlier IEBlog post. It also only scores 32/100 on the Acid test while all the other browsers get 100/100 or close to it. It doesn't support <canvas> and, in two years when it comes out, will be at least 5 years behind all other browsers in modern standards and practices.

I think I will download and try it. But I'm really a fan of Google's Chrome or Firefox.

It's very difficult to webdesign for all the different versions of IE in use. I guess this will add some additional quirks.

Have you ever try it yourself yet? I do careless with most "Official Announcement" made by Microsoft. IE is well known of unsecure and a lot of bugs. I have doubt if IE could be compared to Firefox in a next 10 years or ever.

Along with increased speed, (helped by GPU acceleration) IE9 will also have far better standards support than previous versions of Internet Explorer, HTML5, an CSS3 just to name a couple. Hopefully naysayers will give the browser a chance and see just how much IE has improved.

Yes, Kyler, it will. But will it have far better standards support than any other browser? The answer is a resounding NO. You Microsoft guys come here occasionally and I challenge each and every one of your to prove ANYTHING I've said is wrong and you guys never return! So go hide away in your hole Kyler till you can come back with some definitive facts that IE9 will be superior, or even equal, to ANY other major browser.

You can't do it, Kyler. You will fail.

Oh, I'm not done taunting you yet, Kyle. You talk about features IE9 will have in about two years when IE9 comes out but many of those same features are available in other browser TODAY, Kyler. TODAY! Where will those browsers be when IE9 comes out? Will IE9 be two years behind everyone else? Five years as I'm predicting? Will it really come out in two year? How many of those promised features will actually work? How many will only work if you add javascript helpers or Microsoft's proprietary version?

As Chris Wilson told me a couple weeks ago, IE would be totally different if he were allowed to provide the guidance. Uh, you do know who he is, don't you Kyler? I know you're just a paid shill (Google all the forums you signed up for) but do they allow you in the same building he's in? Are you even in the same city?

No. Only a "preview" and that isn't complete. No tabs and no back arrow among many missing features.
