Are Wikipedia articles public domain ?

    If you have a blog and copy part of wikipedia article, for example if im writing somthing about Iron Man two and copy this into part of my blog, is this considered illegal ?

    Or are all wikipedia articles public domain who anyone can use.

    The title of the article makes no sense.
    Yes you can copy a part as long as you refer to the Wikipedia article.

    You can use a certain amount of the item so long as it is in quotations and Wikipedia is referenced., If you plan to copy the item and use it on your site, then no. most people don't know that only a given amount of anything can be used on their site EVEN if it is in quotations and still be considered fair use.. You can however use a small excerpt-then link to the remainder of it.

    No, it is not public domain.

    It's not that hard to find out. Look at the bottom of every Wikipedia page. On the English version, it says:
    Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License; additional terms may apply. See Terms of Use for details.

    There are links there for details.

    Notice the CC A-SA license terms. You have to give credit to the source (Attribution) but you can reuse and alter (ShareAlike). So not only can you copy Wikipedia text with attribution, you also can rewrite it with attribution. So if you give credit to where your original came from, you can also rewrite all the stuff and mix in new material. That is similar to the creative freedom which you can apply to public domain material, and you merely have to give credit to the original.
