When did YouTube start charging to watch videos? www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vrtZbcOVSk# They aren't doing it to all of them, but once the word gets out that you can make a few cents from doing it, I'm sure most of the videos will be pay to view. It sucks.
It says "This rental is currently unavailable in your country." for me. Were you trying to watch an adult video?
It is a video about the Delta of Danube are they crazy ? 2$ and you can watch it for only 72 hours after 3 days you have to pay again... This is complete bullshit and probably the INFO in the video is from Wikipedia..
i thnk the people who uploaded this video told youtube that when people watch it get them to pay u ie i think youtube pays them or sm thing like that
From what I see it's not YouTube that's charging.. it's a "rental" from the person who posted it up... YouTube is already monetized 100 times over with ads, I think that they may make less if they charged to watch all the videos.
Well Youtube had to make money somewhere apart from the Ads source. Moreover the piracy issue can be put to rest with accordance to Youtube's policy. EDIT: BTW for Christs sake Google something when you are in doubt ! http://www.youtube.com/t/youtube_rentals
I'm sure there is a place for the rental system, maybe for copyrighted videos (that the studios would like to rent) or tv episodes etc.. But if it goes to the point of everything needing to be rent to watch it will kill youtube.
Thanks for the link... buddy. It surely cleared many doubts. This appears to be a new initiative from You tube to help its content providers earn some money. How considerate and generous of them to think of the masses! Regards, RightMan
It's a rental system that is in beta, and ultimately I think the audience will decide whether this is a viable option or not. These brave new souls who are putting their videos out for rent will find out really soon whether this is going to get them any views. In my humble opinion, if all the clips end up having to be rented I can't help but think that this will kill youtube's popularity.
Youtube would be aware of such problems and I think they will devise a criteria limiting the rental facility to only select few publishers who have been contributing good many quality videos! Regards, RightMan
yea i'm pretty sure this is just the person putting it up can have youtube charge people, no one would ever go on if they had to pay!
YouTube's bandwidth is in the millions everyday. Just ads isn't going to cut it, they have to make a profit. But $2 for 72 hours rental of a video is ridiculous. At least make it so you can buy it.
