Difference between title, h1, meta-description and anchor texts?

    Hello,

I'm quite new to SEO. I've read on many placed that the following elements are extremely important:
    • Title-tag
    • Meta-tag for description
    • Header 1-tag
    • Internal links with good anchor text
    • Exernal links with good anchor text

They are all very important, they should all describe what the page is about and they should all contain important keywords. I'm confused: is there any difference between all these descriptions? Would it be wise to make one good description per page and use that for all these tags?

    Thank you.

Title tag, meta description tag and h1 tag are all basic HTML tags with higher weight for ranking purpose. You should use your targeted keywords and their variants in those tags. Generating unique these tags for different pages would be really helpful for SEO purpose. :)

    Thanks,

Those ones you do mentioned are SEO on-page factors. I will sum them up short here in SEO perspective only and not a technical. If you need more technical details, go browse w3schools.com as prashanth1987 suggested

Title - This is the most important on-page factor. This tag should be made with carefully from the beginning. Any change made to this tag will cause your site ranking shake for a period of times. This tag will be displayed in the top left section on browsers, and will be used to display in search engine results page.

Meta Description - This meta tags will be used to display your website description in search engine results page. This tag has a little positive effect on SEO for Google while have a medium degree for Yahoo and Bing. However, do not spam this tag with a bunch of keywords, otherwise it would be considered as spam attempt.

Header 1-tag - Aka H1 Tag. This tag purpose is to use for give an emphasize to the specifc text you wanted. This H Tags (H1 - H6) will give a little positive effect on SEO if you use them properly and not overdoing it. Since this tag used to emphasize so I would recommend not make whole text on page as H1 tag, otherwise your website would be penalized for spam attempt.

Internal Linking - This is a common links from homepage to inner pages and the reverse back. Since this link is easily to be manipulated so search engines, especially Google will give a little weight to ward this kind of link. However, a good internal linking structure would give your site a good flow, plus help inner pages to being indexed properly either.

Exernal links - This is a link from external sites to your website, both homepage and inner pages. This one could give you a most weight for SEO perspective. You should carefully selective on your inbound links and outbound links strategy. Linking to bad site (aka "Bad Neighborhood") could harm your site trust and ranking.

For anchor text on both internal / external links, search this forum and read it instead. It is simple anyway.
