I've noticed the web directories I have been submitting to are giving me a message for not able to vaildate either due to the website not been found or website server not found or problem with the website. Now let me ask those who have https website do they get the same complication when submitting to web directories. Or if anyone have more information in connection with HTTPS website & directory sites. Thx

Some of the web directories are using PHP crawler on Submit Action button which verify the url whether its available or not. HTTPS are secured and using some kinds of security certificate like VerySign. So, they never accept any kind of auto scripting incoming flow which are not already allowed in the SERVER. Google Bot, Yahoo Bot, MSN etc. are already permitted to read such HTTPS by the secure server but directories crawler which are not actually authorized. If your website is HTTPS, then you may ask to directory admin to accept it without auto script verification.

There is no need to have https for your index page.
Even if you have shopping cart site, you can make your gateway page http and
then have no problems with submissions of your site to directories.

One caution, if your home page has a login and password box then you want it to stay https or they won't be encrypted when the user tries to login. If it doesn't then fastreplies idea is a good one.
