I noticed that sometimes on freelance boards like oDesk people mention in their project "only providers from India". I know that India has a lot of English speakers. Also I know that there lives around 1 billion people. Is Indian providers really does the same freelance work cheaper than Americans? Comparing to Russian providers - who's cheaper - Russian freelance providers or Indian freelance providers? Regards
China has a lot to catch up in terms of English proficiency. China is not doing outsourcing. The two are of different specialties and focus.
nice What do you mean by that? China has no freelancers? It doesn't make any sense Do you have any examples of costs and job which can be done for this price? Also, I still have no strict idea about why Indian people most popular people (can I say that they popular) on English speaking freelance market? Because India is second country in English speaking population ranking? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_English-speaking_population As I understand, to have cheapest services, country should meet two requirements: 1. Wages inside that country must be minimal. I don't know Indian (it is correct to say "Indian" or here's some other word used to describe people who live in India?) average wages, but in Russia it is about $300 per month for 80% of population. 2. There must be as much English speakers as possible Come to think of it, countries from 1st country until 22nd from the list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_English-speaking_population which I think is poor and have at least 7 million speakers is: India - 232 million speakers Nigeria - 79 million speakers Philippines - 43 million speakers (actually I don't sure that Philippines poor, correct me if I am wrong) Pakistan -17 million speakers South Africa - 13 million speakers China - 10 million speakers Cameroon - 10 million speakers Russia - a little bit less than 7 million speakers So now I almost understand why freelancers mostly yell "only Indian freelancers". But is only English speaking population is the key point for having worth for freelance markets? If we will sum all speakers from Nigeria + Philippines + Pakitan + South Africa + China + Cameroon + Russia, we will get 179 million people from poor countries, where could be a lot of people who can offer affordable prices for English-speaking freelance market, and by getting in exchange pay check higher than average salary per month in their countries. So what's your opinion about all of this?
I've outsourced work to many Indians, and find them to be very talented, and easy to work with, and they can offer good prices compared to many other countries because of the exchange rate to their currency is very favourable for them in terms of helping them attract people in places like the UK and the US (and they can generally get more pow per penny over in India with the money). If you're thinking about working with them, I'd advise you to, as they are great people, and if you're a nice employer, you may consider giving them extra incentives, like a bonus if they do a really good job, which I normally find can help I also think that Filipinos are great to work with, but I might be biased on that one, as one of my best friends is from the Philippines. *** Also, always make sure that you are paying them a fair pay in their currency, as fair trade is the way to go!!! And if you have a good business, and manage it well, you can normally give better wages and have no problem working it into the end cost, because people are willing to pay for quality. Also, people normally like it when they know companies they are giving fair wages, so giving fair wages can also help with company image and corporate social responsibility. And also remember that these people have families to feed too. ***
Country doesn't matter, it differs from person to person. My deals with Indian people haven't been all so great.
I think its the other way around...I think now that business's are moving closer to China its just inevitable that they have more english speaking people...I think China is the next eventual India. I think that eventually their government is going to have to realize that the internet has opened up more possibilities than they could have ever imagined. I have actually had a couple of bad experiences with chinese folks...I have had a couple of bad ones with Indian folk too...so its really all Luck of the draw in my opinion.
I also had experience both outsourcing to India and the Philippines but I honestly can say I had better service with these Filipino English speakers because aside from them not having any cultural barriers regarding the way we speak the language itself in the West, Philippines has better understanding of how the language is understood with the way we have spoken them rather than the Indians who sometimes can connote a different meaning between sentences. I have nothing against them although that's normally part of little disadvantages concerning culture differences. -Noah
Indian do great work with cheap price.and they are honest. but that's odd that I haven't seen any chinese franlance worker.
