Hello Guys! Did anybody receive call from Paypal? I just received one call [the first time ever since I started account 4 years back] asking me to confirm the amount I received 10 mins back. At the first thought, I thought I would grill the lady to know if she was very much from Paypal or we have another brilliant scamsters around. But then thought, if she was indeed from Paypal, she would get suspicious about my authenticity or something like that. Anyway, asking on phone only amount I thought would not be an issue. I was keeping my brains alert if she was smartly try to extract any other information. But she did not. The voice quality was low (probably my handset problem), did not even get her name properly. Anyways, after I confirmed the amount, she said Ok. I asked her what is the purpose of this call, she said just to make sure that your account is safe. Now that is a scary comment. What do you think about the whole issue? Do you think that the current 'phishing'/genuine email from PP regarding non-purchase and withdrawing within 30 days could be the reason for PP to call people and make sure accounts are not being hacked. But randomly doing phone calls, will yeild to nothing.. Are they verifying facts due to Indian Govt pressure and recent changes in policies? What could be the reason.. I did check my account.. fortunately the amount is still there.. but honestly I am worried man not because of this one call.. but for what is all happening since last few months. I even do not know if it was a real Paypal Call... Anybody else got such calls? Your comments please... regards Jeet
Its normal i guess nothing to worry about as long as you didnt reveal any info and offcourse did u get the call on the same number which was there in the paypal settings
There is nothing to worry about, i've got at the least 2 -4 calls from paypal months ago.. nothing recently, and one of my friend got it too.. to whom which i sent a payment. just give them the right info.. once lady asked me to tell the last 4 digits of my attached CC, honestly i didnt remmeber it.. neither did i have it with me then.. told her iam away and dont have it with me at the moment, she just said ok and moved on..
It's a scary situation, as people change cell numbers now a days like shirts. Its not advisable to update PayPal profile information often.
Who told you that ? You should update your paypal profile with reachable numbers as these type of calls are normal ... And if they were not able to reach you on phone they will put the transaction under review which can lead to Limited account
The call was from which number? are you sure it was a PP representative? Its the first time I hear they call and ask for your account balance?

A friend has receieved such a call, so I assume it is normal. This happens when you receive a large amount into your acct.
Yes,Its Normal.Touchwood They call sometimes to Verify the payments received and payment sent.Sometimes ask for withdraw amount too. They are really helpful,If you are Not in office and your reception ask them to call at home number they are happy to obey too Sometimes I receive call while driving when I can not tell them exact amount so Just a appx. amount satisfy them...
