I know nofollow links do not help in PR but do they help in SERP?

I know nofollow links do not help in PR but do they help in SERP?

Till now I thought they are useless for both. But when I searched on Google I got different answers from different sources. And I remember Google Webmaster tools had showed backlinks to one of my sites from nofollow sites(eg digg.com).
    So I got confused.

Is there anyone here who knows exactly about this question?

    Thanks in advance

No follow links mean nothing for you excepy in the site where you put your liink

That means that you will only get traffic from that site and nothing more

I think it helps the serps. We have over 17,000 backlinks from car listings and tweets nation wide. They are 99% nofollow, and my blog that is connected to it does really well in the SERPS in Google.I'm talking really good Facebook related searches and such. I don't even try to obtain dofollow backlinks to this site: showroomlogic.com/blog . More proof that content is still king as well.

The nofollow attribute is not noticed by some SE's so they benefit your SERPs with those engines. Google would not implement the nofollow attribute if they were going to count it towards SERPs. PR makes up a proportion of your ranking in google SERPs, so nofollow links don't affect your google SERP.

I dont think....its going to help to increase SERP.......From the name no follow its not going to give no links.......Maybe you can get more visitors to your website.........

i think that nofollow links are still counted as "dofollow" by Yahoo. cmiiw

as mentioned above, it doesnt effect to PR juice but STILL good for serp. :)

It s a red flag showed by us to search engines. If we mark one link as no follow then Search engines wont crawl the link. But We can bring traffic through these type of no follow links. Also we can get back links

Well, I have heard that nofollow is used to define the importance of link of the website in which it is posted, so if your link is a nofollow it means that it does not have importance for that website but if there is a link there must be some importance so it helps in SERP but it does not help in the PR system.

It would help your site ranking in Yahoo since nofollow tag is nothing for them. However, it could also help your site in Google a little even they are nofollowed with no PR and link power leaked. Why? Because Google does still crawl on those link to see what is that link leading to anyway. Your site would be acknowledge for being "linked" by Google at least.

    Build good content
Build dofollow backlinks but, also get traffic from related twitter, facebook, youtube whatever and your site bounce rate will decrease, you will see your site climb the SERps alone.
What Google wants is sites that people like
