That probably because you try to submit with a search result as parent category try to submit after you navigate in to a category.

As of today our editors processed 49 submissions made by DP members
and I must tell you the numbers are astonishing.

Only 8 of 49 made into our directory and 41 sites have been rejected because
submitters never bother to read and follow our Submission Guidelines.

Doesn't the "/' at the end of the domain name save your server another request? I have always done that to be anal and never thought it would be a big deal.

The work people do is garbage, idiocy, and needless?!?! Negative, negative, negative.

Holy Smoke!! It's just a directory. All these "do not" statements remind me of arriving at the airport after being abroad and being subjected to a lot of questions by the Customs Agents, like they are defenders of the Promised Land. In fact, most of them are not very bright and probably only have a Grade 12 diploma, if that. (Who are they to judge me?)

A directory owner should be able to read too. If the main page of a submission site is just a "Table of Contents" page, but a sub-page links to excellent resources that would be a wonderful fit into a directory category, it should be included. If a submitter uses a webmail address, that shouldn't be a blacklisting offense. Directory owners spam too (even though every one says they don't. Yeah, right.), and I wouldn't want my home address widely distributed.

If a directory owner is going to claim to be making a good-quality, human-edited, SEO friendly directory, they should be prepared to do some reading and work too: read the submissions, judge each submission thoroughly regardless of whether the submitter is using a Hotmail address, etc.

Great customer service skills (hopefully, you don't deal with the public).

Confronting people with a whole list of negatives makes the whole company look negative and unfriendly. The unfriendliness seems to pervade the whole company. Why bother chasing customers?

Again, it is just a directory.

 

Your post just another reminder how little people know and understand what is involved in running directory

On one hand you want quality directories but on another you are bitching when directories operators
are trying to build one. You can’t have both ways because if directory operator serious about quality
then stopping spam at the root is the only way to go.

Let me ask you some questions.
- What makes you to believe that directories owners have any obligations to include every piece of crap that are floating around the Internet?
- Why should our Editors (who are paid salaries, BTW) face endless stream of submissions made by submission scripts and by people who never made single visit to our site?
- Where does it says that we cannot filter submissions and to block unwanted spam way before it hits Editors Desk?
- Who told you that you must submit your site to our directory even if you don’t like our rules?

Said that, I must admit I’m glad to see your rant because:
Bad publicity is always better than no publicity at all.

If you have the good quality content you wouldn't bother with some directories, would you ? People LINK ( blink! ) to good content. Don't they ?

I'm looking at your post and than more I look than less sense it makes.
You definitely have very low opinion about directories and SE, I would say because you have very little
or no idea about role directories and SE are playing in SEO, and yet you are posting in Search Engines
and Directories Forum.

Looking in your SEO site's Service part it appears to me that your knowledge in SEO is limited to your site domain.

So, my question is: are you trying to push your signature and to make name for yourself?
If this is the case, then I have name for you and you don't have to even guess what it is, because you already know.

Next time you decide to spam thread, then make your own and we will oblige you.
