Whats the best Directory script

I know abt phpld but the design looks very common

Any other good ones apart from phpld

 

I still want to find some script, we have some question....

 

Mate i saw some sites i mean directories with high PR .. but they dont seem to use PHPLD

what others are there better than phpld ..

Anyways phpld 4 cost abt 30$ .. no harm in buying but need some more powerful and better one

 

The best one is the one that best suits your needs, for the best you must be willing to pay more too.

The best of anything doesn't come cheap or free, unless you nick it.

You are buying the script for the script...not for the design. No matter what script you end up purchasing, you shouldn't use the template that comes with it. PHPLD and Esyndicat are the most common scripts used. But there are several other scripts out there. I list several of them in the sticky at the top of this forum.

Script AMRAY uses cost $300.00 and we're considering this investment money well spend.
Bright site of owning expensive script, some wannabe directory operator won't touch it
and as result, your directory won't look like 10,000 others same template driven directories.

different scripts have different features, you have to decide which features your interested in, and go with the script which has those features.

the famous ones are phpLD and eSyndicat, both are nice, and its money well spent.

 

Apart from PHPLD, I would give a vote for eSyndicat. Easy user interface and has a lot of features.

 

I use phpLD but will give eSyndicat a go in the near future.

I've tried most directory scripts and I can't say enough about phpLD. You can hire a template designer to set it apart from the rest or even tweak an existing template to make it look different.

For a free version, try http://www.freeglobes.net/ it is getting very popular.

I have done PR3 in 3 months and 200 visitors a day coming from google . It means that SEO work was done well.

I have used several scripts from some of the lesser known (free or nearly free) but decided I needed something more mature. I spent near 2 years learning Indexu (even bought multiple license0 and then discovered what, for me was a very serious flaw dealing with inability to disable automatic approval of paid submissions. They refused to offer a solution or even discuss this flaw.

Am in the process of moving to eSyndicat and after a few rough spots things are looking good. I can say their template system is quite nice. I won't give a url because of spammers hanging here but they have a blocks system for content layout which I really like. Bad point is no WP bridge.

Bottom line is they all have good and bad points. My experience. There are other more expensive scripts that appear to be far and above those discussed here.
