Why Digital Point got very low Page Rank in this Update?

    Hello Guys,

I noticed that dp is a wonderful world of internet marketing and seo discussions. Whenever we create a new topic, we get indexed in minutes.

I have seen that digitalpoint got only page rank 4. First Before Update, i definetly thought it will be around page rank 6 or 7.

But digitalpoint got very low page rank. It is in the top 500 rankings in alexa. If we think that dp has low backlinks, it is wrong. Dp got around 500,000+ Backlinks.

What is the reason, for dp getting low page rank?

I have no idea why but let me guess, perhaps is because those links now lead you to the index page rather than the topic they are linked to, and another contributing factor could be limiting the profiles view for no-members, forcing sign up or login to access them.

And why would PageRank ever affect earnings?

I've never heard of Google mailing people checks because of their PageRank before.

Excellent sense of humor... Shawn! :)

As regards the question, it only goes to show how ineffective and inefficient this PR system is!
A well trafficked and highly informative forum like DP does not get a better ranking and lies low... even below crappy sites/blogs that exist, just for business of 'selling links' with no real content... whatsoever! :(

    Regards,

Who told you that? We rank really well for pretty much everything. :) Think about how much traffic we get from registered users posting, revisiting the site or from referring sites linking to us (a lot). Now... 75% of ALL our traffic is actually from search engines.

Want to know who the hottest girl in the world is, we are even the authority on that. :)

But yeah... clearly crappy sites are outranking us. :p

By ranking, I was referring to the subject of this thread i.e. Page Rank and not serps.

DP is anyway known to list very well in serps for most of the keywords relevant to it... and for some highly irrelevant keyword as well!
I was not aware that it had a number two spot for 'hottest girl in the world! :p Just wondering how many visitors drop by... in search of it and get disappointed!

    Regards,

Well, judging from the views of that thread, a lot of come from search... 557,878 views of that thread so far.

And why would they be disappointed? It's exactly relevant to what they are searching on.

I think Alexa Rank is much better than Google Page Rank. Though my page rank haven't changed in this update.

The better your pagerank...the higher your listing on a search engine and the more traffick you will get....
Hmmmmm.... maybe thats why its important.
