How do i market this site?

    Hey!

How do I market a site which is basically meant for people from one state?
    it's
    http://daredevilsden.co.cc

It's a fan website of a sports club. Though there are some fans from outside India, most fans live in Delhi and/or in other cities in India.
Also, since the "club" culture has recently started in cricket, not many fans are as loyal as in football in Europe.

I don't want to be spammy, and I am part of a couple of cricket forums. Also, i've got some friends who are helping me out, but it's been a month and we are getting little to no traffic.

We did do some SEO stuff recently, but what more can we do on wordpress to make it more search engine friendly?

    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

NO! Traffic exchanges don't come close to working. Try and think what people on your cricket forums actually want and add that feature in. Maybe something with pictures of cricketers getting hurt in weird and funny ways could work. That way you could promote it in your forum without getting banned. Just be upfront, "I run a hobby website and I compiled the funniest pictures in cricket from 2009" or something.

Can compilation of pictures from different websites give me a headache, legally?

I was thinking of creating profiles of all the players in the team. Maybe that could generate some interest.

Make sure you register your site with Google Local Disrectory & Yahoo Local Directory. Also make Twitter & FAcebook accounts and enable the location(geo) features.

Invite some "friends" and make some posts with your site link

Added to the Google and Yahoo directories.
Are directory and article submissions really helpful?

In your case article submissions are great. Since you have a unique location, you need to make sure that the location is worked in the article title somehow. Use ezinearticles & articlebase, you should be on the front page of Google in no time with your articles.

Advertising with Classifieds is a great way. Target your current city using Craigslist, Backpage, Oodle etc. Some of the largest classified sites.

    Thanks.

Also, Facebook and twitter can help only after you have at least a small member base, right? If not, how?

maybe this is classical but i think you want to all people that have same hobbies read your site ok?? or you want to sell something??

the classical ways just give them that related with your hobbies that can be remember, for example give they FREE keychains for 100 person that comment to your site??

Twitter is great for getting the word out on local stuff.

Consider asking local business owners if you can place an add in their window if say its a sports shop or a local cafe.

Exchange work with others and post it on your website. Add signature, bookmark, web link etc to promote your website.

I think you and your friends have to divide the work of forum postings. Post in all forums with discussion of sports, and use signature to advertise the website.
On top of that, write some scandals on the popular players.
