I always start by researching keyword use on google analytics keyword tool and then checking the page rank of competing websites (I know this only gives a rough idea before anyone says so!!) to see whether it looks feasible to beat the competition.

I then use the keywords to choose a domain name and work them into the coding, the content - and then the backlink anchor text.
