Well, for me, the new look is better. As Shawn said, the old look and features took 6 years for as it was and the new look is like a month old.
Same old story here, NO BODY LIKES CHANGE!! Come on guys, there is nothing wrong with this new theme. The text is clear, its easy to navigate, full of all the usual useful info and best of all its FREE!
I miss it working correctly. Im sick of having to use an IP hider in order to access the site and log on.
Becuase it's the only way I can access the site. A lot of people are having problems accessing this forum from the UK. I didnt have this problem with the old DP
No, nobody likes two-thirds of a megabyte being wasted on delivering a page that is nothing more than 6k of plaintext. **** sake the HTML is 116k, and for WHAT?!?! 378k of javascript should be enough to make any web developer hang their head in shame! Seriously, whoever wrote the default skin for vBulletin 4 doesn't know enough HTML, CSS or javascript - much less things like the WCAG - to be doing the job they are doing. I find it nothing short of a miracle it even WORKS given what a disaster this **** is under the hood! If by easy to navigate you mean the fat bloated trash menu that results in information overload that has no graceful fallbacks scripting off - If by clear text you mean crappy undersized fixed metric fonts that make you spend more time dicking with the zoom than you do reading articles... It's truly disgusting to see a train wreck of this scale on a website who's focus is web development... It's like an auto mechanic who drives a 1984 Yugo GV. It's like an English teacher where english is their third language they learned two weeks ago in japan.
Im in the UK and haven't needed to do that yet, i think until peoples eyes and minds adjust to the new look which to me now looks perfectly normal and fine that they are currently experiencing a stewie moment from family guy, i dont like change lol deathshadow regarding your sig, isn't it expected that someone would learn javascript before attempting to learn about jQuery? jQuery is a javascript library isn't it?
You'd think so, but if you saw 99% of the crap people are throwing jquery at, you'd realize that they aren't... They resort to it to try and make less code, but in doing so usually end up making even fatter code with convoluted methodologies where simple **** like an accordion menu or dynamically adding rounded corners ends up some 30k of user code atop the fat bloated jquery bullshit library doing a job that you could do using 5k or less old-school procedural scripting... It's pure rubbish. Much less the retards that use it to do CSS' job. Knowing how to write javascript is as important as knowing when you shouldn't be using it and should instead be using CSS for things like menus, image rollovers, or even simple **** like setting colors (no joke "I want this link red" - you'll get idiots saying "use jquery for that" these days)... or that people are using it for AJAX to do things that frankly, you shouldn't be doing in the first place like AJAX tabs and other miserable /FAIL/ methods so far as accessibility is concerned. As Dan often said "Ajax tabs is the new framesets" - and no, that's not a compliment either. So, basically even if you already know javascript, all jquery does is teach you bad programming habits and to use javascript for stuff you either shouldn't be wasting your time on in the first place, or replicating stuff that CSS does leaner/faster. In a way, it makes you unlearn javascript.
