Popular social bookmarking sites are not better than new ones

    Hello friends,

    After submitting my websites to social bookmarking sites for a few months, I have gained some experiences about popular and not-too-popular social bookmarking sites.

    Popular social bookmarking sites are not better than new social bookmarking sites.

    Why?

    When I submit one link to a popular one like digg.com, my link is nowhere in the next few minutes. The new or not-too-popular social bookmarking sites have my link there for a few hours or few days.

    My link is easily indexed if I submit to old social bookmarking sites.

    I hope I am not wrong.

    Any idea is appreciated.

    You are correct, but the popular sites always give the possibility of large traffic and they usually
    give more link juice. But then, link juice is no good if the link gets pushed off the page as you said.

    Popular sites have many members active and so it is natural for your link to get pushed to the inner pages. But since they are high traffic sites, they give more value to your links than those who have less visitors!
    Also it is fairly easy to get indexed and be noticed with submission on sites like digg... than any other lesser known social site!

    Yes, Nice point, But I will add that even a 30 seconds exposure on Digg.com may do the task very effectively.

    Popular social bookmark has a lot of submissions each minute and that caused the problem as you said. BUT!! Please be noted about these advantages

    1. Popular has a much higher traffics compared to non-popular

    2. Popular can pass much more link juices compared to non-popular

    3. Even your submission might not be sticky at front page in popular, but it still has been cached by major search engines and give you more value compared to non-popular. What is a benefits to be sticky at front page on non-popular that may give you only 1 score while the individual page in popular might give you 5 score. (The number is only for help illustrate purpose)

    4. Popular has been crawled much more frequently compared to non-popular. That's why you submission got indexed even if it was live for a few second at front page.

    well there are many bookmarking sites which are too good but one must take care that posting should not be done all together of one peculiar site but it should be done in bits and parts everyday
