Would I be able to get this site ranked high, or am I wasting my time?

Hi, I have never really tried proper SEO or link building, but obviously realizes the importance of this.

So, now that I have a new site (mini sales page site), I want to start building links to see if I can get it linked on Google page 1 or at least the top 5 for my keywords chosen.

The keywords I chose are all from Market Samurai and are keywords that would be possible to rank for according to MS.

The site is selling my new product on free traffic generation. (http://freetrafficvolcano.com)

I don't want to give all my keywords, but one is: "free web site traffic"

Would it be possible for this site to actually get ranked if I build enough backlinks? How do I know if my onsite SEO is good enough to just try and build backlinks for it?

Almost certainly not. The niche you've chosen is one of the most crowded, you would need to spend some serious time, probably years, to get into the first page for such a general keyword phrase.

I think it's a bit ironic, how you, selling a product to generate free traffic, is asking for help getting traffic. Talk about the blind leading the deaf!

I just did some keyword research for your chosen keyword and I think you will be able to rank for this keyword but not sure because there are a lot of websites on the first page of google with high PR.From 5-8 PR.There is only 27,000 websites competing and has a good search volume. You may be able to rank on the first page but hard for top 5.

that is a well written sales letter and I don't see any reason why you cannot get a high ranking for it,if you have the money or ability to get many backlinks. You will obviously have to put quite a considerable amount of resources into it because it is a competitive niche.

I am working with a few keywords where the competition is not that fierce. As for the blind leading the deaf, I never announced anywhere that I am an expert in on-site SEO. It is not my area of expertise.

Patience and time... You will get there... Just don't spam or use and blackhat techniques to build your backlinks. Those will only hurt you in the long run.

Use whitehat techniques and you will reap the benefits before you know it. And whatever you do, don't give up.

By the way, I definitely think you can rank very well for that site.. "PATIENCE"

It's a sales page. Usually sales pages tend not to rank well because people aren't usually looking for that kind of thing. They're looking for information. What i do is use a simple blog for a sales page and make it difficult for humans to find their way to the blog posts (usually autoblogs), while making it easy for the search engines to spider the posts. That gives the illusion of a website being constantly updated-- which is what google loves.

You're in an extremely competitive niche... if you want to rank for your keywords, you're gonna have to build a massive amount of links.

You're selling a free traffic system and asking about ranking? Seems ironic.

    Good luck to you!

Hi, bertuseng I think it is a nice idea to pick up some long tail or local relative keywords and target them using your homepage. You would get more chances to surpass your competitors if you have enough backlinks with well written on page contents. Have a nice day,

I think not. You have major competition with a lot of garbage competition. If I were you, I would build a site, affiliate site, e-product site (or whatever) around NICHE non-competitive high paying products. They're easy to find. Why invest your time in something that is going to take forever to pay little.

Thanks for the comments. It seems that it will take some work to get this page ranked well. I am going to start building links to it and see how my rankings change in a month to know if I should continue or not.

I have doubts that an obvious sales page will rank very well with google, as I understand you typically would have to soft sell it with perhaps 10 pages of related articles. Having such more substantial content may also raise the keyword quality score for an adwords campaign, lowering the click costs.

Managing your own affiliate program has an advantage of producing links that go to your domain, rather than clickbank which ends up getting the link juice instead of you.

You can get result when you have enough time and budget for build links. However, it could take from 6 months to 2 years for some high compeitive keyword. If you can stand that far then just go. If you cannot, I would recommend you go for non-competitive keywords buy targeted first. This type of keyword may not have high search volume but it could generate you a revenue while your site not ranked in the compeitive you wanted.

Link building is not just a number but an artist. You have to define quality links and keep all of them balance, steady pace of course. You cannot just submit site to 5,000 free directories and hope you would gain a rank you wanted. Relevance and domain age of the site linking to you is far more important than just a bunch of low quality links.

I guess, I will really have to check the long tail keywords I am targeting. I am going to go on a link building mission. I just hope I am not wasting my time.

I say good luck to you, if you have the determination you will do it, and you can always fall back on others ways of getting traffic if the SEO doesn't go so well.

It is not impossible to rank first page for your website, but you need to put a lot of work into it and give it time. it will not happen over night. So, if you have already done your keyword research properly, make sure you target them both through your meta tags/description as well as through the content you have on your site. it is important however to bear in mind you should not surpass a keyword density of 3% let's say. Also, make sure you refresh your content, at least part of it, on a regular basis. As for off page SEO work hard to get high quality backlinks. Although quantity is by no means to be neglected, quality of backlinks is essential.

Here's the deal: You definitely CAN get your website to rank for your chosen keywords. It is entirely possible to rank a webpage for keywords that don't even appear on the page itself. Do not listen to anyone that says patience is the key. They are wrong. If you want to rank well the key is to be aggressive. This usually means spending money. It also takes effort. You are either going to have to do a lot of work yourself or contract it out to another party.

But, I wouldn't even worry about ranking the page in question on the top of Google. I'd focus on getting affiliates to promote the product/site and also on advertising. Your goal should be to make profit and not necessarily to rank well. True, ranking well usually does equal a sizable profit, but in this case I wouldn't make that my primary focus for a number of reasons.

So the real question should be: How can I generate massive profit from my product?
Instead of: Can I make this site rank well?

    Good luck.
