    Wordpress is completely customisable, you can create you own wordpress themes or modify your current themes go to wordpress codex, there is lots of information on this.

    If you are looking for free themes, here are some really good ones: smashingmagazine.com/2009/05/18/100-amazing-free-wordpress-themes-for-2009/

    There are plenty on excellent quality free themes about, don't spend money buying themes!

    A really good place to get wordpress themes is premiumwordpressthemes.co.uk - though they are all premium themes - which are not cheap

    This is not necessarily good advice. There are many benefits to buying a theme from a good designer:

    1. Compliant coding
    2. Support
    3. Reliable updates
    4. No footer or hidden links
    5. Better features and options (there are a few exceptions)
    6. Admin friendly backend set up
    7. Documentation and Read Me

    I use premium themes exclusively and I wouldn't dream of using a free theme for a client. It all depends on your needs and what kind of design you want.
    I'm not saying that you have to buy premium themes, but don't subscribe to the notion that investing in your business to set yourself apart from the competition is not necessary.
    You can't do everything for free and expect to be better than the next guy.

    I can't tell you how many sig links I click on in this forum and not only see the exact same niche over and over again, but using the exact same theme.

    If all you are building is a piece of crap autoblog or spam site, or course you can cheap out, but if you want something that is going to make a nice presentation and you don't have the coding skills or time to hack someone else's design, a premium theme is the way to go.

    You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a nice WP theme, it's not like they cost hundreds of dollars. You can get something nice and professional from Themeforest for under $30.
