    Hello,

I would like to know your thoughts on PythonForum.org domain name. I do believe this name could be a sweet home for all the Python developers out there.

    Your appraisal appreciated. Thanks

    nice url.

how will it be different to the main python communication channels that currently exist (i.e. the newsgroups)?

I don't know what your goal is, but I would be very doubtful if making money from a site like that would be easy. As with all open source projects the people using the websites tend to be "do it yourself'ers". You often read blog posts about an open source coder who spent a rainy weekend writing some software that they could buy for $30 but decided to make it themselves for the challenge!

I'm actually one of those people - not saying it's a bad thing - but making money from a forum related to an open source project will probably be pretty hard (if that is your intention).

    good luck though

You should develop this, it will be worth mid $xx.

    Otherwise, $x or reg fee.

    Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

    ray_223,
I was about to learn Python for years, and with PythonForum.org I could fulfill my desire. I have experience with other languages such as Pascal, PHP, C++, C#, ActionScript, and other. C# (.NET overall) was professionally for a year. I'm not a day-to-day developer anymore, but still with a lot of interest in programming. I would like to see PythonForum.org as a friendly community of Python developers welcoming newcomers and helping them to explore the world of Python programming. This would be a project out of pure passion.

    Thank you, ray_223.

Just a quick message to let you know that few days ago I launched the forum welcoming all newcomers. I created a new thread for suggestions you may have over at PythonForum.org/topic3-open-to-suggestions.html.

Edit: Looks like the host is down at the moment. I ordered a separate plan for the forum at IX Web Hosting, but noticed a few down-times already, it hurts. I'm going to create a ticket on this.

I wanted to vouch for IX Web Hosting as they were fast in resolving the problem.
