Boosting revenue for my site?

    Hello,

Though I'm new here, I have been lurking around to garnish some information before posting.

I run a website which has a fairly active community, but I plan to increase the amount of interaction soon, which should boost my impressions and probably userbase.
We are a specialist website which receives probably most of the community of people who know the subject matter.

I'm currently working with 2 companies to serve advertising - Advertising.com who sought me out and serve $0.45 eCPM average to the first 5 impressions from US traffic a day, which equals out to I'd say an average of 60,000 impressions a day.
My overall impressions a day is roughly 450,000.

I'd like to know how I could maximise my revenue through CPM campaigns, as my CTR is fairly crap.

I've been exploring ad campaigns but come short of decent opinions and answers.

I've been seeking private advertising networks, but what I'm really hoping for is just something which has a decent payout and is actually PAYING. At the moment my second advertising group are failing to pay me due to delays upon delays from the companies they serve ads for.

My website is The Spriters Resource (http://www.spriters-resource.com) [Don't threat, we are changing the layout] - You can see my placements and information on the site here. We are primarily graphics and gaming based.

    Any suggestions? Personal experiences?

Have you ever tried to insert Adsense in your forums? I don't see any and since your forums seems to be very active with a lot of members, I would give it a try. Place them in between posts, replies. Not sure what else because the rest of your site looks good.

Send some members my way! lol I could use a few =P

The thing you mentioned is placing adsense in your forums , the idea is not bad, instead of having place between replies or threads, adsense should be placed in a meaningful manner like If a user get helped with the forum posting then he/she should do clicked over the adsense based button. The condition is if he get helped and satisfied then you can demand to click on a adsense.

Adsense has always been fairly bad payout for me, to a point where it was hard to get a payment at the end of the month and reach the minimum payout...

I'm interested in some names and good companies to look into. I'm currently in between people to find which work best but none seem too promising.

You have nothing to lose by trying to put some ads on your site. Trick commission junction or click bank to find related products your user base would like.

adsense is terrible for that niche as tsrdazz already knows.

Yes, I believe related products affiliate might pay out better.
If you have a large member list then perhaps sell advertisement space on a weekly mailer?
This was one of our biggest income providers for a well known website I used to webmaster.

Your site is getting big enough that perhaps hiring a professional consultant might be warranted.
Often reputable companies will have some great contacts that they use to get your site involved with. The initial cost can be a bit expensive but most often in this world you get what you pay for. This is one company I have worked with in the past when I was consulting. Very professional and great results.

Good luck in your search and testing!

Really look at the demographics of your audience. I think hosting your own banners for CPA offers such as tool bar and game downloads would be your best bet. Setup sticky posts for game downloads as well. You could make a fair amount doing a "game of the week" sticky post in your forum every week. The games are free to download and would appeal to your audience. If you like, I can help you with this on a revenue share as I have several accounts at CPA networks. But feel free to do it yourself, provide value to your forum members.
