Google.cn closed at 03:03 this morning

Yes thatz what worrying me a lot. As they have gone out of China completely, so now if the Government stops the google.com and gmail services like they stopped blogspot, facebook, twitter (last year), then we guys are completely dead.

There are so many foreigners working, studying, staying in China, they will be so.. so.. disappointed

 

I support google's decision for some reasons.

 

This will give rise to

1) Yahoo, who lead the way in Japan and will happily be the Chinese Government's b!tch.
2) Smart marketers selling proxy services to the technologically illiterate.

A similar kind of censorship is imposed in Dubai I think.

 

No, they are not leaving China. Hong Kong is a part of China and it is a clever move. I think the Chinese authorities are surprised and they are not sure how to respond yet. Google still wishes to keep its operations in China but I am not hopeful about that in long term.

 

Buy yourself a VPN, you can expect a increase in price soon

 

I have been checking since last year some of the free vpns, but within a month or two, they were also blocked

So basically the VPN doesnot work too

 

Not really, I have been using some parid VPN at 28 RMB a month for sometime now, and it's fairely good.

Free VPN, on the contrary, does work for a short time, and you need to upgrade from time to time, and even that does not guarantee 100% up time, to be specific, not even 50%. However Wujie really did a good job, but it seems now that even the most up-to-date version sucks.

 

I am wondering if such a redirection would be punished by Google itself? Also, if .hk or .cn has any essential difference? I don't think so. They both might share the same databases and servers. Google.cn has been closed but other services are still working inside China Mainland.

Nope, HongKong people use traditional Chinese, so you can see websites in that language ranks well on google.com.hk, on the other hand, its serp results are not being filtered, that makes the difference.

Whether or not will the Gov. block google.com.hk is not sure now, but you can certainly observe the same with google.com.

Gmail is not affected, but we will see what will happen in the near future.

 

Really thatz great, can you please suggest me the paid version which you are using, I was using thefreevpn and hotspot over these months.

How good is the speed ? Can you access all the sites like, blogspot, fbook, twitter etc. ?

My opinion is Leave China is not good for google, google knows it, so why they do this? answer is they will not leave China at all, google.cn and google.com.hk just combined together, now you can use google.com.hk to search simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
In China, we can use google.com freely, search results are not censored.
