Should I Buy This Parked Domain

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by mvcathey, Mar 19, 2010.

I have found a parked domain for sale that is over 6 years old in a niche I wish to pursue. It appears to have always been parked as web archive only gives the parked cached page. So A real site was never loaded.

My intent is to build a real site around the url. Will I get any good value from this domain being 6 years old as opposed to getting a new domain?

    Thanks

In my opinion, Yes. make a good website and its age will be counting while being rewarded by google.

It will help only a little bit later on. You still need to do the same amount of work if you were to get a new domain.

This could not being different from buying a new domain. If that domain has some potential in keyword or some sparkling name then I would recommend to buy it.

If it is a parked domain the whole time and doesn't have any backlinks then there is no real benefit over registering a new domain.

However the domain name itself might be better than anything you could register.

it will give you a head start since there are some links going to it already. I have one such domain. As long as your content is similar to the original park page, it does have an advantage to booking a brand new domain. I would say Go for it !

I have about 50 websites some of them on domains as old as 10 years that I purchased, a lot of them are new (even infos). After much grinding over the numbers I concluded that age makes a little difference but not a lot.

If the name is a good match for your niche or highly memorable it has a definite benefit regardless of age. The 6 years could help a little.

Add to that, if you like the name it will help by giving you a more positive attitude towards your project.

If you can get it at the right price go for it.

Yes it should have some value to it because its such an old domain, however unless heavy backlinking was done for the right keywords it wont have a huge benefit to you.

I would buy if I were you. The fact that it's a 6 years old domain alone sounds good reason to purchase.

6year old domain wold also be great if your keyword is on its domain. if not register another.
another extension of that domain will be my best choice if there is.

It's not such an important factor but can help and will be much tougher for Google to ignore. If the domain name is good and you're getting a good price for it, I would say GO FOR IT! :D
