    I had the same question before. One of my twitter page was PR5 and I thought of putting backlink from it. Then somebody told me it is nofollow link and cant help in rankings. But I went ahead and put the link anyway, this is because you can get human traffic and when search engines change their minds (treat a link as a link, not as dofollow nofollow etc.) then the link will be counted.

    Twitter is a no-follow site, so basically it will not help you for backlinks, but you can make it popular by increasing your followers and posting your site links.

    Twitter use the nofollow attribute on all outgoing links so you'll never get a PR boost from any of their pages. Twitter is great for traffic, though.
