    PrestaShop
    CubeCart
    ShopSite

Magento is the best ecommerce script easy to use and very complicated but you need to run Magento on a dedicated server because it uses more resources. We take long to put products on it if you have many products but worth it.

I have tried X-Cart and Magento. Magento is a fabulous piece of software and easy to use straight out of the box.

As mentioned above, Magento (from version 1.3 onwards) needs to be run on a VPS or similar as it needs to use the innoDB MySQL storage engine (my shared hosting uses the MyiSAM storage engine).

Changing the skin of Magento is easy. Moving elements around the page has a slightly steeper learning curve as Magento is built using the MVC design pattern where page structure is kept away from php logic.

I run multiple shops from one Magento admin backend - that was a doddle to set up.

Setting up promotion is easy. You can do anything Tesco can do. Buy one, get one free. 10% off if you spend £50. Free postage and much more.

Magento is well worth considering and you can probably find an offshore agency that develops Magento that can tailor it to your exact needs.

I have used in the past few of them. I really can't say which is the best. I personally think that the best one is the one that you can handle and the one that have enough resources to get a fast answer at 80% of problems.

I think it depends on your needs. Wordpress and its plug is good for a simple easy online shop.

I have run many different cart. Zen cart so far has been my top pick. OS commerce is basically the same thing. Making it seo friendly does take awhile. Zencart is a very cost effective solution that you can easily upgrade if you have the time or money. I have been running it for about two years with no real complaints.

We've looked at a few (agree that Zen cart is a good one). Really depends how much time you're prepared to spend customising.

We're designing an e-commerce website for a jewelry store, not much customizing, and preferably little coding needed. Is zencart okay for that?

Magento is a really powerful cart...easily the most powerful among the free ones however I've never seen good performance with it. Every site that i've seen that uses it is somewhat laggy. Zen Cart, while not as feature rich, is much more streamlined. Also the templating system for Magento is a mess.

Oscommerce has pretty poor code and backend - which makes customisable hard. That's why Zencart was created, but even then Zencart's not that much better. I personally like opencart because it's clean, simple and easy-to-use

    Cs-cart is the best.
    The price and the features.

You can see in the website.

    Oscommerce is not good.
Like Joomla and others they are not safe. If you are not with the last version, your website will be attacked.
