    Twitter kills ez in traffic.
But Coca Cola kills Microsoft as a business in most manners of speaking. They're different things, thats why. Sure you could use them the same, but they're different. Twitter could be used for promoting AND social networking, wheras ez can't/

twitter has done a great deal for me, but maybe that is because I have over 25,000 followers. I use it for some promoting. I still like article marketing and I spend about 1 hour a day writing an article. This way I can get some quality content to my site.

i agree twitter got bigger because lots of people are usually nosy thats why twitter is a good medium of advertising but article still plays a great role in marketing coz buyers/customers dont just rely on advertising but still they based their decisions thru the article they've read.

hmm, yes twitter can be a good tool if its done in a right way. Basically it has not helped me at all other than having couple of hits on the blog. However article directory helped me a lot in search for a specific keyword. I guess twitter helps only if you have lot of followers under your belt.

To get 1 follower per minute:

#1 Go to www.twellow.com and search a relevant category to potential prospects. They are ranked by the number of followers.
#2 Join hundreds in you market. This should only take a few minutes.
#3 Find a tweeter in your market that has many followers and go into their page and add all their followers too. Well, maybe not all because there can be thousands.

Just sit back and watch your followers grow to 100+ within a few hours.

After 24 hours defollow all those who do not follow you back using http://dossy.org/twitter/karma/

    Hope this helps!

   \

    P.S.

Keep promotional tweets to a 1/4 ratio to avoid being banned.

Thats it. Don't buy in to the twitter traffic machine and all that other bullcrap.

Twitter is certainly very useful for marketing. It and article marketing, however, are very different, and I doubt Twitter will ever be as effective. Twitter's model allows you to post 140-character tweets at regular intervals. That's great, but they go only to an opt-in list of followers who already all know who you are. Article marketing, on the other hand, reaches as audience of people, through searches, who are already interested in what you are writing about but don't know who you are and are ready to click on a link -- the perfect people to market to, in other words.

The 140 character limit on Twitter really does cut it's potential for marketing, simply because you can't hold a person's attention very long that way. In article marketing you build credibility over the course of an article and get people invested enough to click.

Finally, all the power and functionality of Twitter can easily be built into article marketing. At Content Crooner we have a service to tweet your new articles automatically. Suddenly article marketing has all the power of Twitter.

They are both great, but some niche's simply don't do well with twitter. Article marketing will be useful for a long time.

Twitter will never beat articles for one simple reason.... Backlinks. There is no need to say more.

Twitter is effective for some if you have many followers, but for most people I would think article marketing will provide better results. That and as has been mentioned the backlinks from the articles are very valuable, not just from the directories but from the syndication as your articles get picked up by other sites. The key is creating quality content that others will want to include on their sites.

I can see where having a lot of twitter followers could help with your marketing efforts provided you give some useful tips as part of your tweets - is it possible to use both to get targeted traffic - for example has anyone used twitter to announce new articles? Thanks to the ideas above for increasing twitter followers; am off to try that now :)

No problem bud, anything to help a fellow DP member. Only go into twitter with a marketing perspective if you have one particular market. Then build a following of relative "tweeters" and that is how it's done.

I personally don't tweet anymore. It's kind of a businsss joke.

In addition to my last comment I will add that I have focused recently on quality articles and my hand made pages. That has always worked for me. There is nothing new under the sun. Content IS king as much as I hate to admit it.

I did not hyperlink that word "articles" and I am disappointed the DP has taken such drastic measures.
