Does it matter .com or .net?

    This has probably been addressed 1000 times but I cannot find the answer anywhere for some reason. Is it better to buy a domain with a .net or a .com extension?
    Im going to buy an exact match keyword domain and ive narrowed the best url for my site between 2 domains.
    One is a .com but I actually like the name of the .net better as its a more highly searched term than the .com

    Can someone tell me if i will rank better with .com or does it not matter?:confused:

    I don't think it matters as far as ranking, but .com is a better extension

    Type thedomainname in your browser and hit CTRL and Enter for another reason why in most cases

    All else being equal I'd also say .com over .net, but why not pick up both of them and 301 redirect the .net domain to the main host?

    .com is the best, just because most people assume that it will end in .com. if you have the option though buy both that way you wont get any competitors for that name

    i believe .com is still the best choice among tlds. Unless you are already a very popular brand.

    .com is famous & beginner people mentality always search for .com sites so .com is first choice..com is better then .net!!

    if you are not expecting that people should remember your domain.. go with .net

    otherwise people will type .com only and you will lose traffic

    go for .com more people use it. therefore its more well known. so people usually just assume that the da is .com

    A .com is always seen as the better option but if that has already been taken a .net will do but if you have the option buy both together to protect yourself.
