    Is this one of those exploits that a well secured firewall can protect against? Most of the other exploits are only a problem if you have an unsecured or poorly configured fire wall..not sure of this one.

    Every time I read one of these things I just laugh. Especially when propagation is by way of servers that were compromised in the first place because their admins didn't bother patching... banks of all places !

    ..and so the ball keeps rolling..

    Spammers are among the suspects believed to be behind a nationwide assault on thousands of popular Web sites this week. The Internet Storm Center, an industry group, said it appeared attackers used a weakness in a Microsoft Web site server program to cause it to download small files, called trojan horses, to the computers of site visitors. "There is quite a bit of evidence that what we are seeing is yet another technique for spreading and installing 'spamware' (software that assists in either creating, relaying, proxying, or otherwise participating in the sending of spam.)," according to a posting by the Storm Center. A spokesman for the Internet Storm center downplayed the impact of the attack, urging computer users to update anti-virus software.

    Why do people still use IE? Microsoft even said they don't intend to improve it, but just fix security holes, which are many. Why not download FireFox from mozilla.org? It's much faster, and it now has a google toolbar for those that can't live without.
