How much can I charge for instaling wordpress?

Discussion in 'General Business' started by clash, Mar 4, 2010.

A guy I know is asked me to set up a website for him. He has only articles, so I should install wordpress, theme, put 10 pictures, and set up basics so he can later work on his own.
How much can I charge for that?

If he has no idea what you're doing, and his site relies on your services, you might as well charge him a fair amount. Most companies charge around $100-$150 for what you described (provided you provide him with support if he so needs it).

Perhaps, but only if your client knows how to do what you're doing and is paying you to do it because he does not have time to. Even then, $10 is a bit low.

I dont really agree with you... Charging more to a client because he doesnt know what your doing? Thats like having your car in a repair shop and they decide to charge you 500% because you are clueless about what is wrong.

Edit: ahh, i misread your post.. only read "only if your client knows what your doing"

Not much considering it takes about 2 minutes or less if you are using Fantastico. Then again, I guess there are people out there that don't want to risk trying to install it on their own.

yup i agree with other saying don't charge to high because if this project doesn't make you sweat then 10-20$ is enough... otherwise you configure a plugin or post articles that you wrote...

You guys that are saying 10 or 15 dollars, aren't considering aggravation, and possible problems arising. What if clash runs into problems? Sure its easy to throw something like this up, but it could take up to an hour, before things are all said and done. He is also putting his name and rep on the line. I would say at least fifty dollars. This sort of service is no different than paying someone to clean your pc of viruses, or perform a hardware inspection.

Its easy to do this stuff, but a normal person who hasn't done it before would be at least an hour. Installing WP, which isn't easy if your ISP doesn't provide the download for you, uploading articles, photos. FTPing, then making sure layout looks right in IE and Firefox. There is more to this, than meets the eye folks. :D

Why would anyone PAY to have someone install wordpress when they can easily do it themselves? Is this a very common service?

$10 to $20 is quite reasonable for installing wp

I remember time when people charge $100 for installing WP ,even today if you give a custom theme to a site you can charge that amount

    Regards

For me, installing wordpress with basic useful plugins would cost around $10-$20 but if its just default wordpress, $10 would do it although people nowadays mostly will do it for $3-$5...look in BST.

There are business people who dont even know what a web host is, and they simply dont have the time or desire to find out how to get a site, they just want it made.
