    Hi Guys,

I have a video in .avi what is the best software or way i can convert the video to a smaller size 400 x 300 pixels into either .mov or remain as .avi without affecting its quality?

    Thanks!

Try to get a video converter to help .,Personally, I use AVS Video Converter for all video conversion, I used it to convert all my DVD rips from .avi to .mp4's for my iPod. Here's some of the features from their site:
Convert Video between Almost Any Formats:
HD Video (inc. AVCHD, MPEG-2 HD and WMV HD), TOD, MOD, M2TS, AVI (DivX, Xvid, etc.), MP4 (inc. Sony PSP and Apple iPod), WMV, 3GP, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO, MPEG-1, 2, 4, H.263, H.264, Real Video, DVR-MS, MKV, FLV etc.
    If you want a try,here:

mpeg4 is "just a name" for dvix, xdiv, mp.4,....
it's not a real existing codec

Agree with this, does more than convert, you can extract just the audio, or just the video as well as save video to a series of images.

It can be complicated to use but is the best free option available.
