You may use Google analytic or use Startcounter coding on your site to know no.of visits per day to your site. good luck.

Don't use 3rd party stats. They can't ever be as accurate as server side stats. Check out awstats.

There is no accurate traffic statistic tool. I prefer not to use one but 3 traffic statistic tools. I used Statcounter, Google Analytics, and Statpress (for WordPress only).

Statcounter gives you good and realtime visits. However Google Analytics is more accurate.

    Statcounter..
It loads faster than GA for me and it tracks visits in real time.

The two primary ones are Google Analytics and Stat Counter. Personally I prefer Google analytics because it is more accurate with it's counting and it's free. You can also hook it up to your adsense account and find out which sources of traffic generate the most adsense revenue and target that audience appropriately

    agree with lightlysalted..

Statcounter and Google Analytics are the best out there. May be you could start with both installed and then eventually you could stick to one.
I use both, but prefer statcounter more beecause I like the UI and tracking.

Or you can use an open source analytics script which you can install in your server. I am specifically referring to http://piwik.org/ .

You can use Google Analytics, which is currently one of the best 3rd party statistics online. On your own control pannel (if you're using cPanel) there should be the possibility to find AwStats. I'm using that since day 1 that I'm webmaster and I'm a real fan of it ;)

I use google analytics and awstats but they aren't the end all and be all. google analytics under counts and awstats over counts visitors.
