100 directory submission is enough?

Discussion in 'Directories' started by PinoyIto, Sep 5, 2006.

I have submit one of my new site to more than 100 directories already, does that a big factor for the site to position in search engine?

How big does a directory can help for a campaign to rank atleast top 10 in search engine.

It depends entirely on the keyword competition. There are several hundred SEO friendly directories out there, so there is more you can do. But what it takes to be top ten for "home loans" and top ten for "African earwig mating rituals" are very different things.

In practice, 100 directory submissions will only help you for keywords such as [small town] + [low competition industry, eg hairdressing].

first of all, submit to 100 directory doesn't mean you have 100 new link becuase you might get rejection for 100 time

It really depends on the type of directories you have submitted too as in paid vs free. If they were paid with high PR and quality backlinks then it could help push the site but you could be doing more to get links from non-directories.

If it was free directories then you'll be lucky if 50 of them are accepted and out of that 50 most of them are probably going to be of low quality and wont make any difference in your position.

As I said though it really does depend on the directories you submitted too.

And some of the directories will disappear as quick as they appeared, plus some will lose their database, personally i just keep submitting to any new ones as it keeps a steady flow of new links pointing back to the site.

Totally agree with the above post, if you dont take advantage of resources available to you too, then your competitors will.

Even if you have few competitors its still a good idea to push your name out there as much as you can.

For non profit too, it all helps you achieve whatever your aiming for.

Paid directories can make a difference...well maintained, spam free and quality submissions are only accepted.

Look for paid directories offering permanent links for onetime fee :)

It will certainly help you to rank in the top search engines. (Hope the directories are already indexed and have some PRs).

But, nothing is 'enough' in seo world. If you are not ambitious and you think well I got PR2/3 and that's sufficient for me, then for a short period it may be enough. But if you want to rank high, you have to work really really hard man. ;)

Beware of rejections, if you spam around, some have protections to see if you are spamming, don't use directory submissions, they never work.

best way to do it is by hand. 100 is not many as others stated above - there is always room for more and it could never hurt. You may not get accepted by all of them and it may take a while for the se's to even crawl them and find your link..So I would say..do as many as possible!

100 is not enough. There are so many directories out there, just keep doing it. Keep an excel sheet because that list will be helpful when you have another site to promote.

Where do you find the best 100 (or 1000) directories that one should submit to? Is there a list somewhere that identifies the best directories?

I assume your looking for free dirs

    http://www.info.vilesilencer.com
    http://www.directorycritic.com

    for paid dirs

    http://www.paiddirectories.info

the problem with most free directories is that pages have tons of links, so your link ends up on page 7 and is useless and valueableless. Also look in the announcments page for directories in this forum so you can find new directories and get on page 1.

I agree with most posts here. Having submitted to a lot of directories, its still not enough. In fact, its never enough.
