How do I get from page 2 to page 1 on Google SERPs?

Good point Jericho33...you can't simply look at your site and ask why? You need to gauge your website in relation to the competition and then build a comprehensive strategy from there.

 

How much on page optimization have you done? Have many of the top 200 factors that Google takes into consideration when they rank your site on a SERP have you taken into consideration?

If you have all of your on page optimization complete, and you're only talking about off page optimization, then I recommend a quality link building campaign. And by that, I don't just mean adding a few, or a dozen, or even a few dozen new links from article sites. What you want to be doing is building one way, do follow backlinks from quality, relevant pages with strong PR and low outbound links.

You should easily be able to 5 new high quality links per day, which after a short time, will really send your SERPs soaring.

There are many different ways to accumulate good backlinks.
Blog commenting, guest blogging, forum posting, article marketing, social bookmarking and RSS marketing are the most common.

Think of your link development like you think of losing weight. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. 20 minutes per day.... forever.

 

Get more backlinks and add more unique content to your site and you'll soon be there.

 

The site is still top of page 2 but I have articles with links to the site in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position on page 2 now - page 2 domination or what? Today I've added more original content and will add a few links to it with another link to the front page in the articles.

I've noticed that the sites on page 1 don't do much if anything. One is a stagnant article which refers to a story which is 6 months old... can I complain to google and get it taken off? Tee hee - now there's a new approach...

 

I just added 3 links to a blog type website on page 1. I'll add some more next week.

GOOD NEWS! When I looked at page 1 to see analyse my competition I saw an article I published is #5 on page 1 - I wondered why there was so many page impressions from the site in my adsense account

 

BAD NEWS - My article on page 1 has relegated my site to number 2 on page 1 - this calls for more action...

 

I must be doing something wrong. I find it hard to find 1 quality link a day.

 

The article publishing sites I use help me no end with quality links. One is a PR6 and the other a PR2. Strangely the PR2 gets higher positions than the PR6. (I don't bother with hubpages anymore).

I can put as many links as I like on the sites I use and make adsense from them. In addition to that in my sig I use SnipSly.com (the PR2) it gives a 80% share of page imps and the adsense they generate which is an excellent bonus on top of driving 10-20% of the traffic to various of my blogs and sites.

if your website one first page for particular keyword then it means that your efforts at the view point of ON PAGE AND OFF PAGE optimization is Good, but now you have to generate more strong back in order to beat your competitors.

This is simple and easy thing to make your position on first page and also do proper back analysis of your competitors. I m sure that you will defiantly on top of Google.

 

I didn't realise how much the SERPs change, even during the course of one day. Also, since starting this project about 200,000 more SRs have been added. The article I had on page 1 (with a link to the new site) has disappeared to who knows what page but beyond page 4. The site is still top of page 2 (#11). Today I've published a new article (that's 4 this week) but now I'm thinking about targeting an even more competitive keyword in addition to the one I've been working on.

The single best way to get good back links to your site is through submitting high quality articles linking back to your domains. Web 2 is here to stay and if you don't have fresh content ties to your site,you won't be able to compete long-term.

I've got two listings on page 1 of Google SERPS so, unless you want to repeat what I have just typed, I reckon everything has been said.

 

I'm curious to get everyone's input on how they are building out the link structure of their site. Is everyone building links organically (i.e. articles, directories, link partners....etc) or 2) buying links? JUst wanted to throw that out there and see what everyone has to say.

 

I don't do either I just get page 1 SERPS instead.

 

Can you elaborate revelations on your page 1 SERP comment? Are you securing linkbacks from other page 1 serps within your keyword search or what?
